I've been around here well over a decade. Happily so. Usually when I logon to FR..I'll check my Freepmail first, then pings ( scroll down and click on those that interest me) , then Articles ( same as with pings)..Once in a while I'll click on "Commments." Just now, while attempting to eat AND FReep at the same time, I clicked on "Activity" by accident...

Needless to say, I am curious..like "what query?" Is there a user manual somewheres I should know about?

The activity button is deactivated. I believe it used to list the most active threads at the time searched. It went by the wayside when FR experienced one of its big crashes.
It tells you what FReepers are doing it while you browse the forums.

Ahh, at one time Laz was quite sane - but then was taken for a "drive" - was actually rescued once (cost us a bundle), but now, alas, poor Laz....
Like the “Comments” tab shows most recent comments in descending order, the “Activity” tab shows (or once showed) threads with most recent comments or “activity” in descending order.
You’d use the “Activity” tab to view articles or threads that had been very recently commented upon. This would move threads that were no longer attracting response way on down the list. Whenever you see someone say “Bump!” or “BTTT” (bump to the top), this refers back to the knowledge that making a comment on a thread would put it on the top of the listing of active threads, and so people would post just to do that, because they approved of the thread, and wanted it to get more exposure and to be read.
Of course, people have no clue anymore. I’ve given up trying to get people to understand what a “ping” is, seems like they think it’s a “bump,” and are pinging people to their own threads, lol.
When jargon runs amok. No turning back now, even the FR buttons have turned on us, lol.
It has been renamed the ``kinetic military activity`` tab.
