A young coyote is eluding animal-control officers in Seattle even though its head is stuck in a jar.
The Seattle Times reports that animal shelter officers tried to track down the 3- to 4-month old pup on Friday in the woods of the Rainier Beach neighborhood. But even without eating for a while, the pup had enough spunk to scurry away.
Seattle Animal Shelter supervisor Ann Graves says officers are concerned for the pup because its head has been stuck in the jar for about a week now.
Graves says shooting the coyote with a tranquilizer remains an option, but it's dangerous if the animal has not had any food. She says the dose could be too much for a weakened animal.
They can’t find somebody with a .22 rifle? sheesh!
Similar story about a bear in TN the other day. They tranquilized the bear, got the jar off his head, and let him loose in the state forest.

Should have stuck with Mason jars, instead of switching to Acme...
Quite a number of our elected officials have their heads stuck up far darker places and no one seems to be doing much about it.
You win the award for the first Wile E. allusion.
Funny !
Reminds me of my lamenting having hit and killed a raccoon on my way to work and my sis-in-law replying by telling me of all the says they are nuisances.
joya
If they just want the jar off, a .22 short would do the trick. That’s what you were implying, weren’t you?
What a surprise.
A Marine coyote?
Sure, save this varmint.
Someday it or its numerous offspring may eat your dog, your cat or your toddler.

Just shoot the d@mn thing, it’ll grow up to be a dangerous nuisance like every other lousy coyote.
They ought to set out hundreds of jars like this one with appropriate bait, tethered to a tree. When the coyote get its head stuck in one, BANG! Too easy.
There used to be a similar trick, tethering a glass milk bottle with a piece of apple inside. A raccoon comes along, reaches inside and grab the apple but then its paw gets stuck in the bottleneck. Too stubborn to let go, the raccoon stays until you show up and BANG! Another pest dealt with quickly and easily.
Also I hate it when one of these TV nature boys catches a rattlesnake, admires its wonderful diamondback pattern and then LETS IT GO so it can bite someone else. Sheesh!
