Defrocked, excommunicated and burnt at the stake works still better but nosy secular governments in our age somehow think they have some business interfering with the third of those examples of justice when, in the good old days, they did what they were told by those who had inquired and judged on behalf of the Holy Office.

Irish can cease to be Irish but Catholicism defines Irish whatever this pissant politician Taoseach of Ireland may hallucinate. Ireland without Roman Catholicism would be about as appealing as the slums of Cairo. You remember the old saw from Gloria Steinem about a woman needing a man like a fish needs a bicycle? The sins of some priests (however despicable and worthy of execution) are no excuse for any rational human being (much less in Ireland) to turn his/her back on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, genuine Apostolic Succession, the seven sacraments including receiving absolution of our sins and the actual Body and Blood of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
If they enact such a law, then there should be another Rising and this time assisted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians and by an International St. Patrick’s Brigade. As with Wolfe Tone and O’Connell, freedom loving Protestants are welcome to play their part. The tactics employed by Michael Collins against the Brits should be utilized yet again-—ruthlessly.
