LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. A Missississippi man let his 8-year-old son drive on Interstate 12 while he slept, Louisiana State Police reported Saturday. State police said they received a call shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday about a green Chevrolet pickup truck driving erratically on the interstate in Livingston Parish. The caller told police that a child appeared to be the driver of the pickup. Troopers stopped the vehicle, and they said a boy was driving the truck while his father, Billy Joe Madden, 28, of Hattiesburg, Miss., slept in the passenger seat.

Billy Joe?
The boy’s precocious - and big for his age.....
MSNBC really spelled it that way. (shaking my head)
Indubitably:
LOL...my 11 year old boy would take me up on that immediately
He does ok around the back pasture in my truck by hisself.
I would only allow him to drive on a hwy if I was incapacitated and it was an emergency...he could do it.
It’s a southern and rural thing...but 8 is way too young.
I drove at 12 or so with dad and had my license at 15...and was allowed to drive around rural areas alone at age 13....like Lake Bruin Louisiana or Deer Camp..back then all your secondaries were gravel or clay..not like now
I recall a Three Stooges episode where Curly gives a baby a pistol to play with. Moe calls him a “two-ounce-brain” before slapping him upside the head.
Then again, maybe they were trying for a Guinness World Record. Completely different situation.
I know how to spell Mississippi. I just don’t know when to stop.

I drove Dad’s truck on the road with him starting at 12 also.
Up until the time I tried to beat the big dump truck coming the other way approaching the one-way bridge, I did pretty well.
He let me drive again at 14...

This is the original story, and it's been updated with them removing Mississippi altogether.
I am not surprised anymore. (shakes head too)
Looks like they decided to “runn oft.”
Missississippi? Well, thatat makekes 51; only 6 morere littittle known statates to go, and we’ll havave the nanames of all 57!
That’s nothing. We have a man-child driving this country to damnation.
Speaking of 11 year olds... Just yesterday I was letting my 11 year-old nephew drive my old Toyota pickup up and down the gravel road on the edge of our property. He asked me, “Are you scared?” I said, “No”, to which he replied, “I am!”
