Residents of 16 states and the District of Columbia gave President Obama approval ratings of 50% or higher during the first half of 2011, led by the District of Columbia, Connecticut, Maryland, and Delaware. Idaho residents had the least positive appraisal of his performance, with 27% approving.
These results are based on aggregated Gallup Daily tracking data from January through June, consisting of nearly 90,000 interviews nationally. Obama averaged 47% approval on a nationwide basis during this time. Each state's data is weighted so it is demographically representative of the state's population. The full data for each state can be found on page 2 of this report.
Obama's support is greatest in the East, with 8 of his 10 highest approval ratings occurring in states located in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic region of the country. The 2 non-Eastern states ranking among the 10 highest are Obama's home states of Hawaii and Illinois.
States giving Obama his lowest approval ratings are more varied regionally, with several in the West but also including Southern and Midwestern states.

That Bottom picture is a classic I just smoked the guys pole next to me. My gaydar went off right when I saw the guy with the growth on his lip is super flamer.
Years ago when my mother was in good health, she asked everyone to stop arguing about politics during family gatherings. We've stuck to that and discuss sports, the weather, movies, food, etc.
At least the kids get to know their relatives and play with cousins...
Waste of breath. With some people it's a religion. With others, it would mean admitting that (at the least) they made a terrible mistake or (at the most) all of their previously held beliefs are equally questionable.
Doesn't matter HOW bad things are, if he runs, Obama will get a minimum of 40% of the vote in 2012. Period. End of statement. Doesn't matter if they're voting for BO because he's black, or they vote straight ticket Dem, or because their Daddy is a Republican and "They'll Show Him!!!", or what. The trick for us is going to be finding a candidate to support who will get 1% more.
IMHO, the secret is to let people figure things out for themselves - like my friends were. Maybe a gentle nudge "Geez, my 401k is really tanking, what's yours doing?"...but no more than that. Pointing out how STUPID they were not to see Obama for the con man he is, and to castigate them for voting Dem, just drives their defenses up and makes for an argument. It might be satisfying, but it accomplishes little.

This is why I think Obama is toast, given the current environment. He scores exceptionally high in solid blue states, but not good in the rest of the states, including most of the battleground states. This was reflected in in Nov 2010 as most every red state moved far to the right with sweeps at all levels of government (FL, NC, IN), some traditionally blue states swung heavily in our direction (MI, PA, WI), but at the same time, CA, CT, Delaware, NY and other very Democrats states stayed up or swung even more to the left.
Don’t get me wrong it will be a dog fight and we have to fight to win with a great nominee, but unless there is economic recovery...real recovery...the Dems are in a very bad spot.

That is a good policy and one my wife and I adhere to unless we are with friends of a like mind or of course on online sites like FReeper. But there are some obnoxious Communists who simply can not help themselves. For these folks everything is political and any gathering from family get togethers to company picnics gives them an audience, albeit a reluctant one, and they simply can not shut up. They’ll go on about everything from the SUV’s driven by some guests to the “unfair” (in their mind) working conditions of the mostly illegal farm workers who gathered the food on the table. Which of course leads to the immigration policies of the miserable Republicans. Then on to George Bush, The Tea Party, yada yada yada, ad nauseam. It’s like it is a disease.
I agree with you.
I hear ya...
Great minds think alike. :-)
The creepy communist crept back above 50% for an added total 40 Electoral Votes (EV) for 2012, but if socialism is only at 50%, there is a (small but nonzero) chance of taking those states back - if we choose an effective campaigner and Obama continues governing as ineptly as he has been.
Half of the 10 most approving states in 2010 were located in the Northeast: New York (29), Delaware (3), Massachusetts (11), Rhode Island (4), and Connecticut (7). Three exceptions were Maryland (10), California (55), and Obama's home state of Illinois (20).
That's a total of 142 steady EV in the eight named most approving states. Throw in DC (3), Washington (12), NJ (14), Hawaii (4), and VT (3), and the inept socialist has over 50% support for 215 EV.
The key question: Can real Americans keep SEIU, ACORN, and other corrupt organizations from stealing the election in enough of the remaining states to put Obama in power for another four years, which would completely destroy the United States? I will assume we have every state in which socialism has under 40% support, plus CO (I know that's a risk), TX, NE, IN, SC, FL (I know that's a risk too), and GA, mainly because if we can't get the states in which socialism's support is under 46%, freedom is lost.
Swing states (Obama needs 55 more EV, a specific Republican needs 43 more EV:
New Mexico, 5 EV, 48.6% approval
Oregon, 7 EV, 47.8% approval
Iowa, 6 EV, 47.5% approval
Ohio, 18 EV, 47.4% approval
Mississippi, 6 EV, 47.1% approval
Nevada, 6 EV, 47% approval
North Carolina, 15 EV, 46.9% approval
Virginia, 13 EV, 46.6% approval
Pennsylvania, 20 EV, 46.3% approval
While these are in order by Obama's Gallup approval percentage, that is somewhat misleading because the disapproval numbers don't reflect the difference between approval and disapproval in each state due to "undecided" percentage changes. Still, these states plus Colorado and Florida are more or less the key states. If the Republican gets the states where Obama is under 46% approval, plus CO, FL, PA, VA, and NC, it's over. American freedom wins. If we lose even one of those five states, then a lot of other questions come into play.
GOP "must win" battleground states: TX, NE, IN, SC, CO, FL, PA, VA, and NC.
GOP "might win as a bonus" battleground states: New Mexico, Oregon, Iowa, Ohio, Mississippi, and Nevada. If we get more than a few of those, we can expect the Congress to look very nice indeed.
Honestly, I am not even sure “shear agony” describes my feelings accurately enough.
I’m not sure a word or phrase exists at this time.
All I say further at this point is that I’m in total agreement with you, and I also think that our government has become pure evil...purest Evil.
