Right.. I just thought was classic Nicholson!

You know, actors could keep their political opinions to themselves then..now, I don’t go to a movie of some lefty actor, not because I am “boycotting “ it, but i can’t get into their character/role cause I keep thinking of their comments off screen.

Your #8 (A Christmas Story) is worthy of ANY top 10 movie list! Thanks for the reminder. Ralphie and the Red Ryder BB gun and Flick’s tongue getting stuck to the pole and Scut Farcas and the leg lamp and Randy snorting his mashed potatoes up his nose at the dnner table and the evil sants and elves at the mall. The list could go on and on. Brilliant movie!

I too love Babette’s Feast. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen, unquestionably.

A while back people were told about a fun game: find out your porn star name. Evidently if you took the name of your favorite pet and stuck your mother's maiden name to the end that would be the ticket. What hilarious fun.

Of course it turns out that a couple of the questions you are asked if you forget your password on your on-line banking account are "What is the name of your favorite pet?" and "What is your mother's maiden name?"

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't following you.

P.S.: Cool graphic! But I thought the Democrats (represented by the donkeys) were the perpetrators and not the victims.

I forget which Zatoichi flick it is, but there is this one where it is snowing at night that might be the best snow scene in any movie that I can recall. I think it was a later one, late 60’s and in colour. Very pscychedelic, a great effect.

No one mentioned ET even my husband shed a few tears with that one...Hospital with George C Scott was a black comedy that was good. But it was from the 1970’s...

Actually, I think those are supposed to be mutilated cattle, not donkeys. Anyway, here are some more tips from the same website -- but be sure you sign in from a linux-proxy-bot, just in case someone's looking at your IP address for port scans -- or worse. I use an over-clocked water-cooled one with a 155mm counter-fire battery myself, just in case. Wink Wink, nudge nudge, know what I mean, know what I mean?

Ha ha, I just saw it again last night, so I threw it in there. In a year it might not make the cut. Nolte, Chris Penn, Madsen, Palminteri, Malkovitch, and Bruce Dern. The scene where Nick Nolte and Mike Madsen realize that Nolte has been captured on camera having an affair is tremendous. Chaz Palminteri is great in it too.

Can't say I agree with any of these, except for the The Godfather and the original Postman Always Rings Twice.

Nicholson is simply NOT a good actor. Burton is fine -- except with Taylor. Their work together is unspeakably atrocious. Beckett is a much better example of his best work.

You have no Hitchcock; probably the greatest director of all time.

Casablanca does not have Bacall. The female lead is Bergman. Casablanca is actually the only one of Bogart's moderately tolerable films; mostly because of other actors. It's a 4/5 star movie, and doesn't have to be on everybody's list. The rest of Humphrey Pushcart's films -- including Treasure of Sierra Madre, The Maltese Falcon, and The African Queen are pure crap. Humpty is probably the most overrated actor in history.

In the period during which you list, you have no Westerns, but Westerns dominated this period for at least 20 years. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance should be on any classics list.

Most of the films on your list are soap operas. I guess there's no accounting for taste.

Catch Me If You Can (pretty much any movie with Walken in it is good).
Scent of a Woman
The Eagle
The Good the Bad and the Ugly (I like all Eastwood westerns).
Stand By Me

Too many others to think of right now, but Secondhand Lions is an excellent film as others have suggested.
