Why do so few people bother to cleanly post a story anymore here on Free Republic?
Not to pick on anyone in particular but I see this type of posting all the time and it drives me crazy. Here are but a couple of examples:
"Gerald Celente Disses Roubini After Moving 100% Into Gold Gus Lubin Aug. 30, 2011, 6:21 AM Image: KWN Notorious trend forecaster Gerald Celente has been fairly accurate of late, predicting a double dip and revolutions around the world."
In reading the summary why must the reader be tormented by the extraneous, unnecessary and worthless text: "Gerald Celente Disses Roubini After Moving 100% Into Gold Gus Lubin Aug. 30, 2011, 6:21 AM Image: KWN"?
Another example:
Federal judge blocks Alabama anti-illegal immigration lawBy Mike Lillis - 08/29/11 04:16 PM ET A federal judge on Monday temporarily blocked Alabama from implementing one of the strictest anti-illegal immigrant laws in the country.
Again, why does the reader - who is seeking summary information - forced to read this at the beginning?:
"Federal judge blocks Alabama anti-illegal immigration lawBy Mike Lillis - 08/29/11 04:16 PM ET"
If you post an article correctly, please do not pollute the summary with confusing, time-consuming and extraneous text. If you are going to post, please take care to post in a courteous manner, in a manner to help the reader who is seeking a summary and not make the reader needlessly sort through a posting mess.

Whenever I see a large string of useless posts, I can't help suspecting that someone is trying to force an important post off the top page....IMHO.
How many of you read past the first page?
Maybe you should step up from McDonald’s and try having a nice dinner at Sonic?

Why are you under the delusion that it’s the poster’s job to give you the Reader’s Digest condensed version of an article?
I’ve posted over 4,100 articles. The way I was introduced to posting a thread, was to post the article exactly from the original from the beginning of the article. The reader can choose to link to the rest of the article. Any editing was/is strictly up to the poster. It is NOT his/her responsibility to edit the article for you.
In other words, the poster is already doing most of the work for you by finding and posting the article.
YOU have to do a little bit of the work by going and reading it, if you’re interested.

Well we are at it, how about putting in the title or byline where the story took place. Not everyone knows where Possum Swamp is. Location goes a long way in defining the story.

Stop reading the posts. Read the posts faster saving time. Use a text to speech program and then you don’t have to read at all. Have your secretary read them and report back with a summary.

I please double guilty to messing up some posts. Spelling is not my forte, grammar is problematical and clear thinking is difficult at 1AM. I will say that I always though the “summary” (Body of Thread) was supposed to be a copy and paste of at least an except of the article.

I use the comment (Body of Comment) section to give my take but I think it’s rather helpful to start the thread without any editorializing.
