I have been harassed by phone calls and mailings from the U.S. Census Bureau connected with the long form.
I was provided with the short form which I completed and returned.
But this long form is many pages long and they ask intrusive questions which I feel they have no right to ask.
The consitution appears to provide for a decennial census but I don't see ANYTHING there to justify a form like this monstrosity.
Has anyone else received this thing? Realistically, what can they do to you if you refuse to complete it?

Whenever you get something from the Federal Government, unless it is a warrant signed by a judge, an order signed by a judge, etc. Throw it away. If they want you to have it bad enough they can have you sign for it or serve you.
With the IRS, if it’s something that says you owe them money, transfer all the money you can out of any account you have...cash it, stash it and dash it...ha ha....this government is your enemy....

I think they actually realize that if anyone fights them through the Federal Courts on this, they might very well loose the case and the entire Census Bureau face a massive downgrading in staff and budget.
Canada did their census this year. Last year the conservative government eliminated the mandatory long form of the census. The howling and bewailing from the usual suspects was long and loud. This year you didn’t even have mail anything. You could do it all online. No muss no fuss and just the basics of how many people age and sex and that was it.
Do not return the American Community Survey if you don’t want to. They tried to get me to complete one. I ignored it.
They sent a rep. to my house. I politely turned her away.
They send two more forms in the mail with letters stating that if I didn’t comply I would be subject to a $5000.00 fine and possible jail time. I round filed them.
They then sent another rep. to my house. When I told him “no” he initially reminded me that there could be a $5000 fine and jail time. I told him this was an affront to my human rights; unconstitutional and an invasion of my privacy, etc.
I mentioned getting a lawyer and then his body language completely changed. He quickly backed up a few steps, put his hand up and stated “Dont worry about it. You don’t have to do it. Seriously, I don’t want you to worry about it.”
I asked him about the fines and such and he said “Dont worry, they won’t do anything”. “They dare not enforce because they know they would lose in a court of law”.
So then I asked him if he was proud to be working for a firm that was using intimidation and fear tactics in order to deny my rights?
He said he was only trying to pay his bills and quietly left. I have heard nothing else about it.
These government gangsters must be stopped. Do not let them intimidate you. They have no authority that we don’t give to them.
If someone had to pay they would likely cause a big stink in the media. And if it got out to the public that people were being FORCED to give the Federal Gov't this much info they would lose funding for their whole operation...all their jobs would be lost.
I am currently getting hassled by these people. I hope this thread is useful......
