I had signed up on FR after my overnight subzero wait to meet Sarah for her booksigning (I still have 3 extra signed books). I did not view her possible candidacy as destiny or anything so dramatic, but I had sincerely hoped for it as Sarah is a Godly, wise and brave woman and seems to be so much the opposite of Obama. One of the things that truly impressed me was her advocacy for Israel. I wish Sarah and her family well.
The reason I had hoped for a Palin candidacy was that I had believed that she may be able to start to right the sinking ship that is America. But I fully accept that it will not be the case at least until 2016 (and very possibly never). And for those that likewise believed that Palin was meant to be our candidate, there was once a possibility that even Queen Esther would refuse to be the person that would be instrumental in rescuing Israel. Esther chose to participate, but her uncle Mordecai made it clear that if not Esther, then there would be someone else. My hope for a Palin candidacy was never about Sarah herself. It was because I believed she was someone who would courageously follow the truths of God as it relates to public life and policy. If she will not be a candidate, we must move on and accept that there are reasons for such outcomes.
One thing that is now readily apparent is the fallacy that some believed that Sarah would somehow be more effective at promoting conservative causes as a non-candidate. Sarah was very effective ONLY because of the possibility that she may become president. Without that possibility, she is not much different than someone like Condi Rice--at one time very relevant for America, and for now much less so. To see that Sarah was very instrumental in guiding the 2010 elections and thinking that she could wield such influence even after public knowledge that Sarah was not running -- well that's just very shortsighted.
It's not super important that we decide on a candidate right now. We knew Sarah well -- we may need to look wisely to see who is a genuine conservative that will win. It's important to me however, that we win in 2012 -- I'd even take a win with a less conservative candidate rather than have the alternative outcome.
This is a farewell to all those who have worked so hard for Sarah and America. Thanks Onyx, 2ndDiv, SE Ohio, Virginia Ridgerunner, and so many others. You guys were truly fantastic and tireless. Much admiration for your incredible and gargantuan effort that everyone here knows about. This is probably my last post regarding Sarah. May God forgive and bless America.
Geez. A floor fight at a Convention. We haven't had one of those since Reagan and Ford battled it out in '76. The problem is that fights erupt between people who have run in the Primary. Palin is out so getting her name in there and getting delegates who are chosen by the the GOP apparatus to drop their guy for a person who didn't run is absolutely impossible.

Nope, her bus tour was about taking her kids on vacation, and happening to making the issues she espouses front and center at the same time. As for the movie, SHE didn't make it. It was done by one of her fans.
Many of us HOPED she'd run, but she never made any promises.
I posted a thread yesterday by that name, but have no skill or resources to organize such an effort.

Because, I don’t blame Romney and his supporters for all this. Romney didn’t go after McCain much in the primary.
Her bus tour wasn’t about taking her kids on vacation. She was speaking to the media during the tour, and she didn’t have to use that bus if she was taking her kids on vacation. She promoted “the Defeated.”
Actually have much more respect for Palin as a person now that she declined. The Presidency and DC would have ruined her as an individual. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and all one needs to verify that is to look at where Obama is now just 3 years after taking office.

It isn't Sarah's fault that you interpreted it as definite that she was running. She might have been "leaning", but she stated plainly that she'd announce her decision in the Fall.
She probably knew she wasn’t running.
She spoke to the media if they showed up where she was. She didn't call to let them know where she would be going. They followed her around the country. Yes, she had a huge bus, but the family used it as their recreational vehicle along the way.
As far as her movie is concerned, she spoke well of it, but I don't remember her doing much in the way of 'promotion' of it.
Seriously, you need to consider Occam’s razor here. It is possible it looked like she was leaning toward running, um, because she was leaning toward running. That does solve the “mystery” in tidy fashion.
Only it doesn’t conform to the left’s “Evil Palin” meme, so it became necessary to complicate the theory by proposing deliberate deception, even though there was zero evidence to that effect, and even though it required otherwise decent FReepers to swallow, feathers and all, an unjust slander against her character.
So I sincerely hope that all proponents here of that defamatory lie were paid political hacks sent here to be trolls and orcs among us. I could not bear to think that genuine conservatives would be so susceptible to the mind games of the left, for that would give me true cause to doubt for our future.

Because a few weeks ago, people on here like you were saying she was definitely running, and you’d say Reagan had not declared until November of 1980, so it’s not too late for Palin. Now you’re saying she didn’t lead her supporters to think that she was running. Why did she take her family on a vacation with a bus like that?

I must disagree. She was hot when she had a sword to wield, no longer is she powerful or even tolerable.
She broke the hearts and backs of her conservative followers in one fell swoop.

I’m not even thinking of Palin in terms of the convention.
Romney will not win against Obama. The Republican heirarchy must have turned into Obama supporters to think they could run a “weather cock” candidate who has no core principles, and win the White House.
I’m crushed. I no longer go outside. I slowly trace veins on my wrist with a razor blade. Nothing has color or meaning. Joy is a thing for children, not me. I hide in my bed, all day, every day. People knock but I don’t care. There’s no point.
