NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- A New Albany family and a utility worker are recovering after an explosion blew a house apart.
Six people were sent to the hospital, including two young children.
It happened Tuesday afternoon in the 300 block of Woodrow Avenue.
Hours after an explosion rocked the home, sending pieces of the walls out into the street, the home took another hit from bulldozers.
Deemed unsafe after the blast, crews get to work, tearing the home down.
The six people who lived there for the past year are now homeless. They had no idea until pulling up Wednesday morning.
"We lost everything we had.,you know. Everything we lost right now," said Marco Guerrero, who lived in the home.
Guerrero is the one family member who escaped the explosion unharmed.
Five others, including his 5-year-old nephew and 3-year-old niece, went to the hospital.
"My cousin is the one that's really bad. He's burned, like his face. You can see his hands," said Guerrero.
Though out of the hospital, some family members wear hoods to hide the burns on their face and neck.
Guerrero's brother-in-law's hands are bandaged.
Neighbors arrived to check on the family and offer clothing for the children.
"I was hoping they were all OK and did they have a place to stay, and what could we do to help," said Maryl Kleehamer, a neighbor of Guerrero's.

I know nothing about Vectren. Only saw the article and thought whoever gas company was must be a bunch of retards to do this!

I have relatives who live in the area. I’ve heard horror stories of their billing, the monopoly they hold in that area...the HUGE bills...
Blech.
