I'll take the heat; I can handle it. I'm not voting 3rd party, nor am I abstaining like a fool (self-centered fool at that). If Romney wins/steals/usurps/fools us to winning the nomination, I will vote for him. There is no argument that can be made outside of pure "pride of wanting to prove we're right" that allowing Obama to win and hence destroy the country instead of voting for Romney. I DO NOT WANT ROMNEY TO WIN. I hope I'm clear on that. I'd like to see Cain/Palin or Cain/Rubio or Cain/Ginrich or any combination of these, Bachman and Rubio...heck, even Perry would be ok. However, I absolutely don't want Romney. Again, there is no salient argument for not voting against Obama if Romney is the nominee.

Flame on, kick me out, etc. I'm still about the most conservative citizen around and I can take it.

Actually there is: If Obama wins, the country and the democratic party collapse. If Romney wins, the country and the republican party collapse.

At this point, the collapse of both parties is inevitable.

Insightful, one-of-a-kind analysis and observation. Definitely worthy of its own thread.

Key word: about.

Sounds subjective to me.

I'm sure in certain circles, Hillary Clinton is the most conservative citizen around.

Of course you will, as will 90+ percent of the rest of us..
Newt is a devil but I would vote for him in a minute..

Its like election of 2000 when Alfred E. Nueman was running against Francois Kerry...
OR the election before when AL ran against AL Gorp...

You HAD to vote for AL no matter the name he used at the time..

Your attitude is exactly what the Rino’s in the GOP leadship are banking on. Conservatives have no place to go so they will have to vote for Romney. The Tea Party people will not stand for it, we have voted for our last rino. At least we can try to run a true conservative in 4 years instead of having Mitt run again.

Equally as inevitable is the Shrugging of Atlas.

It's too early to fold. You people would make terrible poker players.

Errrrrrr.....on second thought, I'll bet you're a TERRIFIC poker player. What say we get together for a few hands. Nothing for you to worry about. I'm a horrible poker player. I suck. You can probably take me for everything I have. Whattya say? C'mon. It'll be fun.

While many of us get distracted by trying to find what we consider to be the perfect candidate, we may sometimes lose sight of the fact that the objective here is to eliminate Bark Obama from America's future.

Once a new administration is in place we will have the greatest effect on the individual issues that we value by applying our influence on the congress. A president is not always as influential in the scheme of domestic policy as we would like to think. But, the Barney Franks, Harry Reids and Didk Durbins are capable of doing great harm to us while the Marco Rubios, Mike Lees and Michele Bachmans can be great weapons in our defense of America's heritage. We need to elect more of the latter.

actually you are wrong, there is a reason besides pride to not vote for Romney, and here's why:

A RINO can actually do far more damage than a liberal when Republicans control one or both houses of congress. The reason this is so is because there are a certain number of what I call partisans who will vote for (anything) if the president has a matching letter to theirs after their name, while the exact same people would fight to the death if they exact same thing had been proposed by someone with a different letter than them after their name.

So as things stand right now, we have a Democratic president, and we hold the house. We will still hold the house and most likely the Senate too after the election, thus if Obama gets elected ... nothing will happen, it will be gridlock.

BUT if a RINO like Romney gets in... there is no telling what kind of liberal tripe he will be able to pass.

Instead of just repealing Obamacare... we would get the RINO version of it.

Instead of actually sealing the border and deporting the illegals... we would get a “comhensive plan” aka amnesty.

Instead of cutting federal spending... we would get increases to the programs favored by the RINO’s

I could go on and on.

With Obama we get gridlock, we a RINO we are worse off than now.

Of course the best solution would be to elect a conservative like Cain who working with a Republican congress can actually get us back on the right track.

Atlas sold the factories to Wang.

There increasingly is nothing left to shrug about.

How about we bring those trains back to AMERICA.

Romney would govern no differently that BHO, so we must make sure he does not win the primary.

“Again, there is no salient argument for not voting against Obama if Romney is the nominee.”

I can think of a few right off the top of my head. That said, I will not vote for Mitt Romney, primary nor general. I WILL vote for conservative candidate in the congressional and state races but under no circumstances will Mitt Romney get my vote.

I did not vote for John McCain. Romney is even further left. Unlike many others here at FR, I do not hate the man, I just don’t believe any damned thing he says. I could care less about his religion, it’s his politics that are the deal breaker.

One moment; actually his religion DOES come into play. I don’t care WHAT you claim to believe or worship, but LIVE it. Mitt doesn’t. The mormons are NOT pro-gay, pro-abort, anti-gun.

Mitt Romney is. If a man will lie to his god, his church and himself, he has NO business being in the White House.

I think this is a little premature - right now our focus should be on getting a nominee worthy of our support. Romney isn't that.

I think our time and energy is better spent rebelling against the media who are trying to pick the republican nominee by, one by one, calling each candidate (except, so far, Romney) the front runner and then proceeding to smear them. Looks like Ron Paul is up now.

After the hysterical accusations about Cain - "Where's the beef?" The best they could come up with is a serial harassment accusser and a uncredible bimbo with more holes in her story than a wheel of swiss cheese? The accuser who got a settlement has been released from her confidentiality by the National Restaurant Association - why haven't we heard the details? Perhaps, because there is no "there" there? Her handlers obviously think she gets more mileage out of vague allegations than presenting EVIDENCE, probably because her story would make 3/4 of America go "Give me a break!"

If and when Romney is the nominee, we will have several months to debate which is the lesser of two evils. Until then, I prefer to worry about getting a decent nominee.
