I actually like the florescent bulbs for certain places but I don’t want to sit around and squint at it all the time.

The light is beside the point. The point is that it's MY decision. I don't want to sit around in a totalitarian tyranny. What defines "total"itarian better than the presumption of telling you how you're "allowed" to turn electricity into light??

LOL

My LED’s now installed will last for 50,000 hours. At age seventy, I’ll never have to change them. Nor will my great grand kids.

Now I’m wondering—will they know I’m using?

In addition to being none of their business, your use isn't prohibited under the law, just sale (and maybe manufacture).

I have been surprised how many people didn’t know.

That is because it is such a stupid idea that most people cannot believe that it is true.

Exactly, now leave me and my iron age bulbs alone. They work fine.

Sorry, we have bigger problems than light bulbs... Our problem is that the LED’s are all made in China.

I'd say that having the only source of legal lightbulbs be a foreign country is a big enough problem. Lets hope that any future dispute with Communist China can be resolved in less than the lifetime of our installed bulbs - it would be mighty unpleasant when all the lights in the country went out one by one.

I have yet to see an LED light with a decent color spectrum. incandescents have a slight yellow tinge that is easy on the eye and mimicks candles, oil lamps, fireplace light, and the sun. LEDs have a bluish tinge that looks like arc welding flash. ITs just not a natural looking light.

My house had a mix of old fashioned donut shaped florescents and 200 watt incandescents with dimmer switches. In the summer when it gets very hot i take out all the incandescents and replace them with the curly q compact florescents.

Cars are another matter.

Not at all. The reason for the lighting restrictions is to reduce the demand for electricity and thereby reduce CO2 emissions from generating electricity. Cars are also big CO2 emitters, which is why the federal government insists it can regulate the average mileage of automobiles sold in the USA. The regulatory principle is the same, and already impacts car manufacturers. When the EPA requires the CAFE to be 70 mpg you'll have no choice but to buy a hybrid or electric car, just like you'll have no choice on 100 watt or greater light bulbs come January 1.

Automotive regs are an even worse threat to freedom. People like myself can’t afford to run out and buy a hybrid even if I wanted to. If I ever end up in a situation where I can’t afford to buy a decent used car for a grand or two, I’ll either have to live off the land or be forced into the city.

I’m about as dangerous as a butterfly out here in the sticks but if I’m ever forced into the city I’ll be a killin spree waiting for a place to happen.

What is your point? It is not the governments, nor YOURS to decide what lightbulbs a person can buy and use. Little by little our rights are stripped away and you are OK with that because you think it is right.

Well it may be cheaper for you, but not for many others. Also why should they decide how or why I spend my money?

We sought LED’s for the last four years to get a proper soft approach for artwork. We tried them all. this year we were able to find one that really worked for the artwork. We replaced over forty Halogen bulbs with only 26 TCP LED’s. Our light bill went down by half.

I have introduced the product to all my art dealer friends and fine artists all over the country. Most that have tried it out are very satisfied with the product.

I just wanted a thread where people could post about sales - and it morphed into weird arguments about buggy whips - we have tons of those already...
;-)

I tried!!!

There is a sign that is explaining the new law, I have been surprised how many people didn’t know.

I have been buying 100-watt bulbs all year and each time I ask the sales clerk (I buy at different stores) and those in line whether they knew about the law. To date: not a one has known.

After I tell them I am always careful to tell them that this is what they get when they vote for Democrats.

After the first of the year, check out flea markets, cause I bet you could still find some there.

Not deciding for you or the government. Simply stating that technology is changing.

That is the point.

You must keep up with technology whether the government gets it or not. In most cases they do not. Cheaper in the long run is the case. Buy the product once and never replace it. Do you get it yet?

Can anyone legally sell them after the first of the year? I don’t think so...
