The blurb made it sound like Newt was encountering air turbulence while being interviewed.

Beck asked some tough, pointed questions about Newt's support for universal health care, part D medicare, global warming, ... basically revealed Newt's progressive tendencies. It was not contentious, nor was it a "gotcha", but Beck stood his ground and used Newt's own words from previous statements and interviews to confirm his points.

I listened to it. Beck was bloviating. Newt did ok. Not everything Newt does - I agree with, but we’re so screwed at this point, I’m voting for some good debate action between Newt & the Commie in the WH.

At least Newt can back up his positions in a coherent way.

I just don’t like Beck’s approach, although, he and others have every right to ask Newt (and all the others) hard questions.

Bullcrap. Since when is playing someone's audio clips and then asking about them "bloviating"? The Newt-Kerry "debate" was stunning: Kerry wanting to use the private sector (carbon tax) to "fix" global warming, and expressing shock as NEWT wants a big government approach. You can support Gingrich all you like, but you cannot deny the man has a neo-Progressive streak a mile wide.

For instance, did you know that in the GWBush drug bill was the extension of Healthcare Savings accounts? Gingrich brought this up in the interview.

That’s what I like about him. He knows legislation so thoroughly that he can point out details like this that support (somewhat) his decisions.

Newt-haters point out that he supported the Fairness doctrine many, many years ago but fail to mention that it was during the time that the only source of “news” was CBS, NBC and ABC, hardly conservative outlets.

I listened to the whole thing. Beck played clips of past remarks by Newt on climate change, health care, admiration of Teddy Roosevelt, etc. They sounded liberal, but Newt talked his way out of each of them.
Basically (my impression): Newt was saying, I’m really conservative but I’m also pragmatic.

There are plenty of Newt quotes around that make me squirm. He once said he was a “Hamiltonian,” i.e. strong, centralized government. I think the only thing that can save us is a renewed Federalism that diminishes the central government.

All said and done, I’m willing to take Newt (”warts and all”) if he can wipe out Obama and bring in a conservative Republican Congress with him.

One thing I like very much about Newt: He seems to have a passionate desire to cut the power of the judicial dictatorship and is willing, like Jefferson, to take strong means against them.

Uh, so how do you explain Newt's disturbing big government approaches to nearly every problem? Medicare? MORE coverage, MORE benefits. Global warming: Scientific "evidence" is "sufficient" - GOVERNMENT solution. How is all that a Mormon conspiracy?

Bloviate: “empty, pompous, political speech”.

Sorry, your choice of words simply does not describe the discussion = are you aware your bias is posting under your screen name?

Since when is comparing Newtie Kazootie’s past pattern of positions with his present “positions” bloviating?

Newt is an enviro. Accept reality.

>> I’m voting for some good debate action between Newt & the Commie <<

Yeah, but don’t forget this:

There will be a maximum of three debates between the POTUS candidates. Nothing like the dozens and dozens of debates among the GOP hopefuls.

Moreover, Obama always has the option of declining to debate. Plus the option refusing to debate unless a handful of minor candidates are also on stage, in order to deflect attention from himself.

In other words, there’s absolutely no guarantee that Newt’s superior debating skills will lead to Big Ø’s downfall.

Newt-haters

Please stop using that term. Do we or do we not have a right to debate the pros AND CONS of the current front-runner? Or do we have to shut up again like we were told in 2008, while the elites chose a big government progressive for us.

We have been conditioned to accept “Hope and Change” as long as the man pushing the policies has a certain letter in front of his name. The field has been pared down, the choice is clear, Tweedle Dum or Tweedle Dumber. Newt would not cut govt, he would expand it in a more “Republican” manner.

Yes, I can't decide who is more arrogant and self-righteous, Beck or Obama. I used to LOVE Glenn Beck. I don't know if I was fooled or if Glenn has changed, or if Glenn just finally showed his true self.

He tries to come across as such a spiritual person (I used to believe that), yet he has NO HUMILITY. “I did this, I did that, I said that, what, two years ago stu?” I, I, I, I, Glen you are NOT the “I am”, even though you seem to think so. He has become a bigger BLOWHARD than O’Reilly and that is saying somethin. I am beginning to hate Glenn Beck. He is an A$$HOLE.
