Does This Design Of Two Towers Remind You Of Anything?
The Blaze ^ | 12/8/2011 | Liz Klimas

These residential high-rise buildings to be completed in Seoul, South Korea, by 2015 are connected in the middle by a cloud, which the designer says “differentiates the building from other luxury developments.”

The towers designed by architects at MVRDV are 300 and 260 meters high with a “pixelated” cloud in the middle at the 27th floor. The cloud allows for more light and room for decks and greenspace.

I get vertigo just looking at the mockup.

I couldn't imagine living in the damned thing.

How about the Two Towers of Mordor? Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in the WashDC area.

Let's hope this is unintentional or just a Rorschach test for those viewing.

I'm going to dig around and see if I can find an architect statement.

You know, if everyone keeps making fun of 9/11 to us, we're just gonna go ahead and nuke the whole f***ing world.

How anyone, especially a lot of “anyones” whose job it is to approve such a design, could miss what it looks like is not near unbelievable, is simply is “UNBELIEVABLE”. No apology will suffice, this is a slap in the face of America.

Inadvertent or not, I bet the idea will take root in Islamic countries and they will have waiting lists. Think about that, people who would delight living every day in something akin to replicas of Hitler’s gas chambers. But all cultures all equal and we shouldn’t judge, much less be proactive.

Here is the architect’s website. He does some amazing stuff.
These towers are known as “The Cloud”. They actually issued a statement apologizing for any unintentional comparison to 9/11.

http://www.mvrdv.nl/#/projects

“MVRDV regrets deeply any connotations The Cloud projects evokes regarding 9/11.

The Cloud was designed based on parameters such as sunlight, outside spaces, living quality for inhabitants and the city. It is one of many projects in which MVRDV experiments with a raised city level to reinvent the often solitary typology of the skyscraper. It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks nor did we see the resemblance during the design process. We sincerely apologize to anyone whose feelings we have hurt, it was not our intention.”

OMG. Look closely.

You can actually see an image of some mannequin falling off the building.

Cool, huh?

My first thought was the designer is trying to simulate building reaching into the clouds, but because of the relation of the towers to each other, their individual appearance and proportion quickly decided that was BS.

See post #12. The architect issued what seems to be a pretty sincere apology.
