I couldn't imagine living in the damned thing.
I'm going to dig around and see if I can find an architect statement.
You know, if everyone keeps making fun of 9/11 to us, we're just gonna go ahead and nuke the whole f***ing world.
How anyone, especially a lot of “anyones” whose job it is to approve such a design, could miss what it looks like is not near unbelievable, is simply is “UNBELIEVABLE”. No apology will suffice, this is a slap in the face of America.
Inadvertent or not, I bet the idea will take root in Islamic countries and they will have waiting lists. Think about that, people who would delight living every day in something akin to replicas of Hitler’s gas chambers. But all cultures all equal and we shouldn’t judge, much less be proactive.
Here is the architect’s website. He does some amazing stuff.
These towers are known as “The Cloud”. They actually issued a statement apologizing for any unintentional comparison to 9/11.

“MVRDV regrets deeply any connotations The Cloud projects evokes regarding 9/11.
The Cloud was designed based on parameters such as sunlight, outside spaces, living quality for inhabitants and the city. It is one of many projects in which MVRDV experiments with a raised city level to reinvent the often solitary typology of the skyscraper. It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks nor did we see the resemblance during the design process. We sincerely apologize to anyone whose feelings we have hurt, it was not our intention.”
It reminds me that we should cut all financial aid to South Korea and start bringing our troops home.
“Sometimes a tower is just a tower.”
— Sigmund Freud.*
This is a very neat and logical way of creating open greenspace up high.
* He actually said “cigar” but I am using license here.
Butt Ugly.
the idea is actually very intriguing. a platform that allows for an additional large area with top open to the air.
i'd suggest 3 towers to avoid the 9-11 impressions. the result could be a massive area high above street level. maybe arching curves for support going between the buildings. each building supporting the others
i'd also make the 3 buildings, kind of supporting columns, in a triangular shape with the arching support beams coming up the sides of each and arching over in both directions toward the other buildings... completing the triangle.
think 3 arches similar to the arch st louis
the top of the arch would be supporting the large living area... and the legs would come up the sides of the towers
It would be a really neat design if 9/11 didn’t happen.
