Obama praises bipartisanship on Senate payroll tax cut bill, yet eschewed bipartisan Simpson-Bowles

Obama and Jay Carney praise bipartisanship on the Senate payroll tax cut bill, yet Obama eschewed the bipartisan Simpson (R)-Bowles (D) plan, that was supported by Democrats and Republicans in the House and Senate.

Here is how it goes:

When Tea Partiers say no to a bill, that's unacceptable to Obama, Reid and Pelosi, but when Progressives that make up the base of tge Democrat Party effectively kill Simpson-Bowles then that is ok with Obama, Reid and Pelosi. The Dem base is what caused them to cave, despite some others being against it.

Here's more of how it goes in Obama, Reid and Pelosi's world:

Tea Partiers are extremists. Progressives aren't. Bipartisanship is good when Obama, Reid and Pelosi want it. It's bad if it doesn't fit their agenda, and thus when Obama won in 2008, Obama said "elections have consequences." and "I won."

I'm not here to advocate for Simpson-Bowles passage, just to point out that Obama will be pursued to say yes on Simpson-Bowles like never before. And how can he, Reid, and Pelosi castigate Tea Partiers now, without saying the same thing to their Progressive base?

Goid luck with that!

The hardest thing to accept about the democrats duplicity is the republicans seem to go along with it, for the most part.

Why have I not heard a single GOP leader point out that 'bipartisanship' seems to mean the democrats way or the highway, rattle off a dozen recent examples, and refuse to play along anymore? The GOP will get slammed by the presstitutes no matter what anyway.

What is it going to b?:

Bipartisanship is only good when Dems want it?

Obama saying says “raise taxes on the rich” when campaigning for the presidency, then later say “let’s keep the Bush tax cuts...can.t raise taxes during a recession” and now back to “let’s raise taxes on the rich” again?

Obama not wanting any more stopgap bills, then back to supporting them when it suits him, as with the 2 month Senate payroll tax cut bill?

Obama is consistently all over the place.

When Republicans tell Boehner that they need to do exactly what you pointed out, and if they don’t, they will make sure they aren’t reelected, then they will start fighting like you described.
