As celebrity scandals go, its probably second only to the O.J. trial: Woody Allen leaving Mia Farrow, his girlfriend and muse of 14 years, for her adopted teenage daughter Soon-Yi.
That was way back in 1992, and what was unthinkable then has long since come to pass: Woody Allen has been forgiven by the public at large. His most recent film, Midnight in Paris, has made over $56 million at the US box office to date his highest-grossing film ever. Along with Elaine May and Ethan Coen, he contributed a one-act play to Broadways Relatively Speaking, which opened this past October. He was recently the subject of a worshipful, two-part American Masters special on PBS.
Farrow, meanwhile, largely gave up acting to focus on her humanitarian work, with a special interest in the war-torn regions of Africa. In 2000, she became one of UNICEFs most prominent ambassadors; in 2008, with a Wall Street Journal op-ed co-authored by her son Ronan, she got Steven Spielberg to step down from the advisory board for the Olympics in Beijing over human-rights abuses.
Today, however, its Ronan whos the star. He is the former couples only biological child, and was originally named Satchel; Farrow changed his name after the split, as she did with Dylan, the daughter she and Allen adopted together. (She is now Malone.)

I believe it was Ronan who said he couldn't have a relationship with a man who was both his father and his brother-in-law.
UNICEFs - UN thief of money
“Farrow, in fact, seems to have spectacularly poor taste in men”
Do we still have that “Understatement of the Year” pool going on here at Free Republic? We may have a winner!
Couple of weirdos. Mia is nutty as squirrel poop! I liked “Radio Days” and the wacky Sci=Fi flick. Iwatched the documentary of his tour of Europe with his band, because I enjoy his music. The flick showed that he and Soon-Yi are quite comfortable together. It also showed how strange he is!
Mia going from Frank Sinatra to Woody Allen still boggles my mind.
I remember an interview where he was asked why his movies didn't make money in America any more. He said they were “too cerebral.”
From the article:
“Soon-Yi made great strides, she struggled... Its been reported that she has an IQ of less than 100.”
I'll bet she and Mr. Cerebral have lots to talk about. Young and mentally impaired - way to go Woodman.
It was not just dating the adopted daughter of your long time girlfriend - which is scummy enough - it is dating the SISTER of your CHILDREN!
So yes, Ronan said he couldn't have a relationship with a man who is both his father and his brother-in-law. Good for him.
What boggles my mind is that Frank Sinatra ever saw anything in Mia, and married her.
From his work; we all knew that Woody was a perv.
Soon Yi or later, it becomes confirmed.
Interesting article.
An emotionally damaged woman, the child of alcoholics, becomes a compassionate, loyal, hardworking, responsible parent. Perhaps because of all the pain she suffered, with the help of true religion. But somehow she never was able to save herself from making the mistake of bad judgement in men.
I’ve seen it so many times. My guess is she is trying to save them too. You can’t help these people, they will head towards destructive types as unerringly as a compass.
In the case of children, they save them, but as business or romantic partners, disaster.
Woof
Yankee capitalist running dog....
It's like having a mind blowing night with a real man and then in the morning turning into a lesbian. What the hell was wrong with her?
*yikes*
Wow... looks like Soon-Yi lost whatever passed for her youthful beauty.
Yes, in fact he said it even better that that.

Ronan has had no contact with Woody Allen since the split. Hes my father married to my sister, Ronan has said. That makes me his son and his brother-in-law. That is such a moral transgression . . . I lived with all these adopted children, so they are my family. To say Soon-Yi was not my sister is an insult to all adopted children.
Well, you posted exactly what I was thinking. She certainly hasn’t aged well.
