The Online Books Page
University of Pennsylvania ^ | Jan 15, 2012 | John Mark Ockerbloom

Posted on 01/15/2012 10:04:08 AM PST by urtax$@work

The Online Books Page is a website that facilitates access to books that are freely readable over the Internet. It also aims to encourage the development of such online books, for the benefit and edification of all.

The Online Books Page was founded, and is edited, by John Mark Ockerbloom, He is a digital library planner and researcher at the University of Pennsylvania. He is solely responsible for the content of the site.

The site is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Libraries, who provide the server, disk space, and network bandwidth for the site. They also employ the editor, and support him in his various digital library activities (of which this is but one).

The online books listed on this page have been authored, placed online, and hosted, by a wide variety of individuals and groups throughout the world (and throughout history!).

Liberty Fund also hosts a library which is remarkable in its content of writings, speeches and books relating to the history of civilization's struggle against oppression and tyranny, whether by one, a few, or many.

Thanks for posting this location also.

For too long, the minds of youth have been robbed of access to the essential ideas of liberty which enlightened the Founders of America, enabling them to leave for their posterity a form of self-government under their "We, the People's" written Constitution.

After years of being censored from textbooks, removed from library shelves and relegated to rare book stores or dusty stacks in some remote region of a library, technology has contributed to a restoration of those ideas to what Jefferson called "the American mind," if citizens will use their computers to search for them.

The On-Line Books Page was one of my original bookmarks, almost since its inception (my bookmark file goes back that far). Thanks for posting.

Project Gutenberg is another e-book organization that has been around for years. It has many public domain texts online.

Thanks for the ping. Never heard of this website. I would like to add that I read the Steve Jobs biography. I found the book annoying to read because he was such a despicable human being.

I have a Kindle keyboard, but I use it more for games than reading.

I just finished books 1-4 of the Green Series by Judy Christie. Book 5 comes out shortly. I normally read thrillers and mysteries, but I enjoyed these books even though they are neither.

Have you looked into Free Republic's own Travis McGee AKA Matthew Bracken?

He's a good read...
