Essentially, if the US cuts off the freebies (walk-in healthcare at your local emergency room, food stamps, etc.) and prosecute employers for hiring criminal entrants illegally (that is, no more jobs for illegals that pay under-the-table so that they have to contribute some of their earnings to all those freebies), they will leave their country because there is no financial incentive to stay here.

Kinda what has been happening in Alabama. Except they are probably self-deporting to another illegal immigrant friendly state. Unemployment has dropped almost 2 percentage points since and many have left our schools . . . hopefully many more aren’t showing up in the emergency rooms, pregnant & in labor, to further suck up our resources.
It’s the opposite of self-importation.
Self-deportation is a flight of fantasy on the part of some.
However, we should remember that the actual amnesty legislation being considered during GWB’s administration included some delusional provisions for illegals to show up and self-identify.

It’s a pretty mainstream conservative position. Instead of creating some kind of police state to round up millions of illegals, we give them a reason to leave on their own. Don’t give them welfare, don’t allow anyone to hire them and don’t have any sanctuary cities and the problem should eventually resolve itself via attrition.
Right. It’s obvious. You aren’t allowed to work, have no green card, are here illegally, you get the message pretty quick. You pack up your duds and go home. It makes more sense than Newt’s plan to pass everyone through some kind of draft board bureaucracy where a panel decides who goes and who stays. Reminds me of the Nazi guards deciding who went to the gas chambers and who stayed to work as slave labor.
Do you honestly believe Romney will do all that with Democrat’s squealing? He’s proud of working with the other side.
The economy should be bad for illegals trying to find a job here but not everyone else.
in order for that to happen, the rules have to change drastically, does anyone believe Mitt will change the rules? No way.
Self deportation is not a fantasy, how did these people get here? They can go home the same way.
On the other hand the DUI and reckless driving statistics demonstrate that a very large percentage of them have motor vehicles.
Actually, the rape, robbery and mayhem statistics point to there being many who are quite capable of running around loose without a great deal of prompting!
From time to time I provide an analysis on FR that demonstrates how we can ship all the illegal aliens "back home" in under 6 months. It starts with encouraging them to sell their stuff, hop in their cars and trucks, and drive to Mexico ~ that's the 90% of them who hale from Mexico.
That country is no more than a 3 day drive away from wherever they are now.
It's not like anyone needs to use forced overland marches in the hot Sun. There are enough seats available to get them all there.
Supplementing that there are enough vacant seats ~ unused "lift capacity" ~ on airplanes to move 100% of them to Chiapas State (a primary source of the folks who look like Classic Maya) in about 6 months.
The other foreigners who aren't supposed to be here can be loaded on foreign air carriers, with a good number of them being able to travel out in the crew-quarters of their own countries' flagged cargo ships.
It is far from impossible to deport all the illegals and make sure they get home in time for Christmas dinner. Anyone who says it's too difficult to do that, or who says its inhumane, is an idiot who hasn't really thought about it.

Romney is self deporting from the Presidential race.
I don’t believe Romney will do all that, he is proud of working with the other side, this point of his was a joke and that is why he got laughed at. The absence of clapping made the snickers all the more loud.
