Gingrich Going After Romney's Wall Street $: Romney Is A Crony Capitalist Corporate Welfare Queen
2/1/2012 | Laissez-faire capitalist

Posted on 02/01/2012 9:13:50 AM PST by Laissez-faire capitalist

According to the following from Zerohedge, Baltimore Sun, Los Angeles Times, American Spectator, Politico, Dirtdiggersdigest and others, Romney is about as big a pro-crony capitalism, taxpayer-funded corporate welfare hog/queen as you can get. He will make Obama look like an amateur. Hence, why Wall Street is lining up behind Mitt Romney.

You can't have what many on Wall Street want and support free enterprise. Corporatism/crony capitalism/corporate welfare should be eschewed by conservatives. If only many in the so-called conservative media would be honest with people instead of trying to mischaracterize and pigeonhole Gingrich...

Zerohedge On Mitt Romney's Defense of Bain Capital and the Private Equity Industry - Here Are Some Facts

"Lately Bain founder and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has found himself in a spirited defense of the private equity industry, doing all he can to spin decades of data which confirm, without failure, that PE Leveraged Buy Outs are nothing but "efficiency maximizing" transactions whose only goal is the "maximization" of EBITDA in the pursuit of dividend recap deals, IPO's or outright sales, while loading up the company with untenable amounts of leverage. All this with a 3-5 year investment horizon which ignores the long-term viability of a company and seeks to streamline (read fire as many as possible) operations as quickly as possible in the goal of maximizing short-term returns." [Companies that ended up thriving did so in spite of Romney].

Boston Globe Bain Often Couldn't Lose With Buyouts

"Mitt Romney has long called himself a venture capitalist, experience he says helps him understand the economy better than other candidates for president. But he spent much more of his career in leveraged buyouts than in the investments in start-up companies known as venture capital..."

Dirtdiggersdigest Romney Bites the Government Hand That Has Fed His Fortune

"...companies acquired and managed by Bain during Romney's tenure showed no hesitation in taking taxpayer handouts in the form of state and local economic development subsidies..." [which shifts the tax burden to others (crony capitalism)].

"...and so while Romney has criticized Solyndra on the campaign trail as a major failure of the Obama administration, his Green Energy Fund [while Governor of Massachusetts] invested in several companies that have failed or not lived up to expectations..."

Mitt Romney is unelectable. Tea Partiers and conservatives don’t want him. Libertarians don’t want him, either.

And the left sure won’t vote for him...

This is ok...but I think he should hit him on his record. Romney has a record of being a gun grabbing, pro abortion socialist. Hit him there.

The news articles that I have provided are but a tiny fraction of the number that can be found on the net. Just FYI...

Dear Newt,

Tuck your ego back in your pants and go after Obama.

Nobody else is doing that heavy lifting and THAT is what “The People” are thirsting for!

He is. He’s has been going after both.

In the end, Obama=Romney and Romney=Obama.

There is a big difference.

Like Newt is running on, Sarah Palin was a very pro-free enterprise, economic populist in Alaska.

Newt doesn’t even come close to being the Corporatist, corporate welfare, crony capitalist stooge that Romney is.

Like I said, Romney makes Obama look like an amateur on these things.

Hint to Newt - drop the Bain stuff and home in on how Romneycare negates Obamacare as a campaign issue if Romney is nominated, just as having McCain as the nominee in 2008 took amnesty off the table as an issue.

That is what GOP primary voters want and need to hear.

Americans admire and aspire to be ENTREPRENEURS and SMALL BUSINESSMEN - those with big ideas and who take personal risk.

The innovators and job creators. Not all are as successful as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, but neither are they the vultures who hang around waiting for others to fail and feast on dead bodies.

Sad that semantics such as ‘capitalist’ are twisted to describe ‘opportunists’. They don’t create something from nothing - they simply move money around - just like the Federal Government.
