Man kills Chihuahua with golf club, hit it 'as if driving a ball off its tee' : police
NEW YORK DAILY NEWS ^ | February 8, 2012 | Nancy Dillon

A Southern California man who allegedly killed a miniature 6-pound dog by teeing off on the Chihuahua with a golf club has been charged with felony animal cruelty.

Larry Jaurequi, 58, faces up to four years in jail if convicted, Riverside County prosecutors said.

A police report states Jaurequi swung the club against the little dog, named Lily, "as if driving a ball off its tee."

"The force of the swing sent the animal flying through the air. The suspect was preparing for a second swing when he was stopped by people that had just witnessed his acts," Sgt. Sergio Rodriguez with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department wrote of the Jan. 26 incident.

Jaurequi allegedly approached the Chihuahua in a cul-de-sac near his residence after the dog escaped along with Poodle from its owner's house while the owner was at work.

The owner found the injured dog suffering as the suspect was walking away from the location, police said. The owner rushed the dog to an emergency veterinarian, but the animal did not survive.

A spokesman for the Riverside County prosecutor's office said Jaurequi, who lives in Menifee, also faces an enhancement alleging he used a dangerous or deadly weapon.

Attempts to reach Jaurequi were not immediately successful.

So if it was your Dog, or better yet, your kids Dog, you would just give the guy a pass?

You’re a better man that I. If I saw that guy do that to my kids Dog, I would be the one going to Prison because he would be going to the Hospital.

“after the dog escaped along with Poodle (sic?) from its owner’s house while the owner was at work.

“The owner found the injured dog suffering as the suspect was walking away from the location”

Inconsistency. The owner was at work, yet witnessed the immediate aftermath?

Some people take pleasure in killing things, if they could kill people and get away with it they might. Sometimes they find a home in third world armies which are nothing like our military but exist to brutalize their own populace into submission. This type of character would fit right in one of those except instead of amusing himself with little dogs it would be with helpless men, women and children. I had a cat who would kill and hurt things just for pleasure so humans are not the only one of God’s creations to have that nasty quirk.

What a monster this man is. Someone ought to use this jerk as a golf ball and see how he likes it.

I’d be excused from that jury after living next to a neighbors who left their yapping Chihuahua in the backyard day and night.

I have a chihuahua as well. One thing I absolutely love about them is how fast they bond with their owners. We are very protective of each other.

I’ve heard, though I can’t guarantee that it’s true, (bit I’ve witnessed at the dog park), that Chihuahuas respond only to commands spoken in Mexican baby talk.

People shouldn’t treat suburban livestock that way. There’s little meat on a chihuahua, even without bruising it up.

I seem to have a knack for coming across suffering animals and do my best to put them out of their misery.

Had to shoot a rabid dog. Dispatched more than a few suffering large animals on the farm. A chipmunk fell out of a tree in college once and broke its back... I killed it with a fire extinguisher to the head. On my way to work once (at night) I drove by a rabbit that had been half run over... Having nothing heavy I used a pen knife to slit its throat.

Well this last one took the cake. There I was in my own headlights crying over this poor little rabbit.

Later that year it got back to me that one of my coworkers had driven past and seen me, and had thought all this time that I had a VERY dark and psychotic side, killing and skinning rabbits in the street.

She was very relieved when I explained the facts.

And yet we excuse the murder of the unborn.

You do? I don't.

But yet police shoot family dogs all the time and face no charges at all. Either dogs merit protection from murder, or they don’t.

If you are police you are already immune from murder charges. They have become the thugs you can't shoot or sue.
