Rick Santorum now leads Mitt Romney in Michigan — the state where Mitt’s dad was governor, according to a tweet by Public Policy Polling. The PPP tweet says: “Santorum topping Romney on the first night of our Michigan poll. This may be the biggest surge yet.”

Although PPP is highly liberal, it seems to be decent with these primaries.

Obviously this fellow didn’t see how Santorum beat the living crap out of Romney at the Final FL debate about Romney’s healthcare law in MA. Just cornered him and wouldn’t stop punching.

I think he can handle O (without a teleprompter)

we have a lot of “flavor of the week” candidates and she was a flavor of the week with no experience that caught fire and rode the wave. First it was Bachman, then Perry, Cain, Newt and now Santorum.

Just give it up. you’ve authored plenty of emotionally based posts, all against Santorum. Try posting about the positives of your candidate for a change.

Just average blue collar guy but I could be two sigmas to the left of that on the Bell Curve and handle your best pitch.

Ah, all I knew was Mike Castle. I wondered if you meant the “electability” issue, and the fact that she was not Establishment.

Well, now it looks like she is, with her endorsement of Romney. I read that she's mounting a campaign for Congress. I won't be making a contribution to her campaign this time around, however, for obvious reasons.

Yes, easily. Obama is a socialist idiot who needs a teleprompter to pee. Newt would shut his sorry behind down in the snap of a finger. I’m positive that Santorum cannot do that.

True. It’s down to beating Mitt and beating Obama. The nom has got to do both of those things.

Jon Corzine proved you can buy New Jersey for tens of millions of dollars, and Michael Bloomberg proved you can buy New York City for a similar amount. Barack Obama may have proven you can buy the presidency for a billion dollars of ill-gotten contributions from owners of Solyndra-like companies who expect to be reimbursed with even more billions of tax-payer dollars after election.

Now Mitt Romney is proving you can’t win the Republican nomination for president for a mere $20 million. Maybe because Republican voters have principles and can’t be bought off by candidates without them?

Not only do you lack the requisite intellect to recognize English that pokes fun at your vacuous argument but you also have no sense of humor. Tough way to go through life, I’ll pray for you.

“Titan posted the number and names of states that Santorum didn’t qualify in. His best bet is to continue to run interference for Newt and serve as his AG or VP.”

I like your scenario.

How many weeks ago was it when a good number of Freepers ridiculed the notion (that appeared in several news articles posted) that there might be a “brokered convention”?

Unless circumstances change (and boy, have they been changing over the progress of this year’s campaign!), the only candidate who previously had the potential to reach the Tampa convention center with a majority of delegates for the nomination was Romney. Neither Gingrich nor Santorum (nor Paul) were going to get “that far”.

But now that Romney is stumbling, it looks like even he may not make it. Of course, this could change, particularly around and after Super Tuesday.

Assuming that Romney walks into Tampa with less-than-a-majority, his only hope is to make a deal with the other candidates in some kind of quid-pro-quo.

But I’ll guess that if a deal has to be made, it will be struck between Gingrich and Santorum, who, between themselves, may just arrive with a bare majority of delegates together.

If Gingrich and Santorum -can’t- agree, then Ron Paul will become the kingmaker.

The best bargain between Newt and Rick is for Newt to run as the presidential candidate, with Santorum taking the second spot. Newt is older, this could be his “last shot”. Santorum has plenty of time left, and after four or eight years will be in strong shape to succeed Gingrich. Even if Newt loses, Santorum still comes out of it ok, so long as he plays his “supporting role” well. Look at Sarah Palin in 2008...

If Rick Santorum can step back and assess his future clearly, this is his most logical course to the presidency, provided he can demonstrate the virtue of patience.

I recently got several emails about a big Oakland County GOP fundraiser. Oakland County is Mitt's former home.

Their Lincoln Day Speaker is Rick Santorum. They were bragging about it and marketing it. They have been for awhile.

The last email I got today. Mitt's crew in Oakland County pulled some strings. He's sending his wife Ann to the Lincoln Day dinner to bail his ass out.

Mitt is scared of losing here.

there’s a buzz they have Jeb Bush waiting on the sidelines to step up if there’s a brokered convention.

If there's anything an American hates worse than an outright fraud like romney, it's pretend royalty like the bush family.

Plus, the left will eat him alive like no other candidate.

No way would I ever consider another bush, even little latino bush down the road. Forget it. Wait for another generation, but this one is done with that family.

Last two? I only remember the last one and I think someone advised him to cool it. Too bad. Otherwise, he kicks Romney’s arse.

It’s all GOP and Romney manipulation of this election. They are determined the people are NOT going to oust their lazy butts from the offices they have cushioned themselves in. Not to mention the big pays offs to those they can bribe and coherce......from the staff runners to the secretaries....Washington is all about eating each other up..or paying each other off.
