History Channel
The History Channel

Posted on 03/02/2012 3:41:51 PM PST by Crapgame

Earth 2100. Any Freepers seen this scaremongering future docu-drama? Makes New York City out to be the hope of mankind and a green utopia. Gratuitous use of Obama's green alternatives speeches and a sickening narrative by some fictional character. John Podesta, Van Jones and other alleged experts offer their opinions on civilization's fall. Then of course an apocalyptic future when man's attempts to reverse Globull Warming fail.

Whatever happened to The History Channel? Back in the day we used to deride them as being the all-Nazi channel because all they ever showed was documentaries about the Third Reich. At least back then the shows actually had something to do with history. Now we get Ice Road Truckers and Pawn Stars? Good Lord, I wish I had the Western Channel...

That show has been out there for a while. It was funny to watch once but I turn the channel if it comes on.

There are still some good shows on the history channel but they’re squeezed in between ancient aliens and the hunt for UFOs.

one of the best shows you’ll ever see on History.

Earth 2100 deserves a good MST3K’ing.

I’ve seen bits of the show you’re talking about...when Van Jones popped up I turned it off. It was just the other night the History Channel was showing a Nazis in America thing. You’ll never see them do a show on the Communist threat, though.

The History Channel has gone so far downhill, but it’s not only them. There’s wrestling on the SciFi channel, and the only thing they show anymore on Animal Planet is survival stuff, and people wallowing in swamps and digging up catfish.

I forgot all about the History Channel. Their “movies in time” were informative, but as you say, I wandered away when they became the all Nazi channel. Glavine was pitching for the Atlanta Braves the last time I watched the History Channel with any regularity.

I watch History Channel a lot, and I don’t recall seeing that show. I don’t mind at all documentaries focusing on Hitler’s Gernmany or WWII. Our modern history as we now know it pretty much grew from the aftermath of WWII.

HC used to be great but then they went PC big time. Now they rewrite history and suck up to and are the mouthpiece for any and all progressive causes.

I've seen some dubious, silly, leftist slanted things on HC but I nearly lost it was one particular segment of ancient aliens. Kinda out there, but they were talking about how incredible the Japanese Katana (Samurai sword) is and how “modern science has hard time recreating it”. BLARGH!
As a guy with an interest in blacksmithing and blade making, I can say what a load of hooy and that the traditional construction/steel was good for it's time but, but modern steel is better by leaps and bounds. I know getting irritated by that might sound silly, but “nerd” is in my name for a reason and I have a keen eye for wee-a-buu, bullshido, Japanophile garbage.

My point being HC can leave history and facts at the doorstep for ignorant producers views and rating in numerous ways. Still a good channel

Why is the “History” channel making a show about the future anyway?

Nothing much has changed. They've just updated the Nazis.

Its so funny that you posted this. I was just telling my wife about this show on the history channel that I briefly watched earlier today. During one part, they featured a Mock cartoon roadtrip in 2100, where the red state South was transformed into the wild west and the northern blue states were nirvana because of wise liberal planning done a century earlier. I couldn’t take any more after they replayed an actual Obama speech, proclaiming that he would rebuild a tornado devastated town into a green utopia. The cartoon featured this speech and heralded the town as a utopia in 2100, thanks to the “wise” decisions made by certain politicians in the past! Needless to say there was no mention of Solyndra and the numerous other green failures. My wife thought I was a moron for not turning the channel sooner. The old lady is right again.

Ah yes... the good old days of the ‘Hitler Channel’
Loved it.

History Channel is mostly garbage now. Same with TLC.

Thanks for the heads-up, I’m watching it now on Youtube, ABC Special Earth 2100.

The show is aimed at our young children with the narrator born in 2009. It features Peter Gleick
http://www.climatechangedispatch.com/home/9966-breaking-eminent-scientist-may-be-jailed-for-faking-climate-emails
the now discredited global warming scientist.

Van Jones, the self-confessed communist that said:

“Right after Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat if the civil rights leaders had jumped out and said OK now we want reparations for Slavery, we want redistribution of all the wealth, and we want to legalize mixed marriages. If we’d come out with a maximum program the very next day, they’d been laughed at. Instead they came out with a very minimum. “We just want to integrate these busses…”

But, inside that minimum demand was a very radical kernel that eventually meant that from 1964 to 1968 complete revolution was on the table for this country.

And, I think that this green movement has to pursue those same steps and stages.

Right now we say we want to move from suicidal gray capitalism to something eco-capitalism where at least we’re not fast-tracking the destruction of the whole planet. Will that be enough? No, it won’t be enough. We want to go beyond the systems of exploitation and oppression all together. But, that’s a process and I think that’s what’s great about the movement that is beginning to emerge is that the CRISIS is so severe in terms of joblessness, violence and now ecological threats that people are willing to be both pragmatic and visionary.

So the green economy will start off as a small subset and we are going to push it and push it and push it until it becomes the engine for transforming the whole society.

It featured John Podesta:

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/podesta-obama-can-use-armed-forces-to-push-progressive-agenda/

“I think most of the conversation since the election (Nov 2010) has been about how President Obama adjusts to the new situation on Capitol Hill”.

“While that’s an important conversation, it simply ignores the president’s ability to use all levels of his power and authority to move the country forward.”

Podesta explains that Obama can use executive order, rulemaking and even the armed forces to accomplish important change and that such means should not be underestimated.

Job creation, quality affordable health care, sustainable security, and a clean energy future, don’t ask don’t tell, Palestinian state and reducing greenhouse gasses by 17 percent by 2020.

“The U.S. constitution and the laws of our nation grant president significant authority to make and implement policy”.

“Congressional gridlock does not mean the federal government stands still”.

This shows what they want, sustainable communities where we all live in high rises like New York City. They are doing it here where I live in Los Angeles, building exclusive bus lines and subsidized apartments with bicycle paths between the two.

My take on it is that they can’t get us to move into government housing and take government transportation and that is why they are allowing the influx of illiterate illegal aliens, paying them to have kids and punishing them if they get married by taking their subsidies away. This is how they will spread the wealth and weaken our sovereignty in order to push a global government where the United Nations is the government.

http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech-mainmenu-30/environment/10834-un-bosses-secretly-plot-global-govt-through-green-economyq-for-rio20
United Nations boss Ban Ki-moon and his top deputies gathered in secret last year to chart the future course of humanity through “sustainable development,” a controversial concept the UN equates with “saving the planet” in what would ultimately entail a radical and complete transformation of human civilization. But even though the erection of a global so-called “green-economy” regime is a top UN priority, leaked minutes of the meeting revealed that the term itself remains undefined.
Snip
According to critics and the UN itself, however, the global body and its allies around the world have ambitions that go far beyond simply protecting the environment. In fact, many experts — especially in the United States — fear that the UN actually envisions a global government, an erosion of private-property rights, and even an end to the individual freedoms enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. And based on UN documents dealing with “sustainability,” the concerns appear to be justified.
Snip
According to critics, who base their opposition to the schemes on the content of UN documents, so-called “sustainable” settlements would involve cramming people into compact “human habitation zones.” Much of the world would be off limits to people. The small areas permitted for use by humanity, meanwhile, would be tightly regulated. And consumption would also be severely restricted.

History channel; everything but history,

Pawn stars, swanpmen, lumberjacks, crab fishermen.

I haven't watched anything on that station in years

History International, however, still sometimes has good stuff, although I often disagree w/ their "experts".

Alot of the stuff is demonstrably BS.
