The Government of Western Australia's Mental Health Commission (WAMHC) has basically conjured up a proposal for new mental health legislation that bypasses parental involvement in the mental health treatment process, and instead tasks children under age 18, and of any age, with making the decision about whether or not to be sterilized, or whether or not to have their brain tissue destroyed with psychosurgery procedures. If a "mental health professional" can convince children that they need such treatments for their own good, in other words, than Australia's youngest members of society will be open game for the eugenicist agenda.
It almost sounds like the plot of a sick movie, but it is all true and fully documented right in the WAMHC Mental Health Bill 2011, which you can access here:

I've about given up on some FREEPERS. What's shocking is how big a percentage such cluelessness seems to reside in. I used to think that FREEPERS were the best informed and most awake. OK, I’ll bite: Is it possible to discuss some of the smaller but actual real issues— that do present some unique and difficult problems— without jumping all the way to Dr. Mengele in the first round?
They are talking about adolescents with extreme mental retardation. These people as they mature are not capable of understanding much about sexuality at all, and are tragically taken advantage of and used by predators at alarming rates. It’s heartbreaking— and I wouldn’t automatically jump to sterilization as a right answer. But somehow there needs to be a way to have a frank discussion of all the facets of the problem and all the possible elements of solutions, without that discussion slipping instantly into death-camp territory.
Some more mildly retarded people indeed do successfully move into adulthood, marriage and even child-rearing. I’ve seen it happen over and over. But for the severely retarded, a girl with the body and chemistry of a seventeen year old, but the mind of a toddler... there are many cruelties being visited upon her already and it’s reasonable to think rationally about what additional cruelties there may be and whether they can be avoided.
I’m not sure I know the answer, but no answers come out of a discussion that is shut down before it even starts.

Another change in the manual puts normal emotions and reactions we display at risk of being interpreted as a mental health disorder. Grieving for a loved one is now to be evaluated by the emotions displayed and not by the underlying reason for those emotions.
In essence only our tears, heartache, grief and loss are to be evaluated minus the under lying reason for those feelings, the loss of a loved one. Therefor placing the natural grief process into a neat little mental health disorder that is to be treated with drugs.
