Two sons of US property mogul Donald Trump have come under fire after pictures emerged of them posing with the corpses of African animals during a hunting trip.

Donald Junior and Eric Trump spent a week in the Zimbabwean bush in August 2010, and are pictured standing next to trophy kills of a Cape buffalo, a waterbuck, a leopard, a civet cat, a crocodile and a kudu.

I also thought if these two male Trumps produce no progeny then the “bucks” stop there.
Have a Good day.

I agree with you here, and I don’t give a rip how much I get flamed, get accused of being a PETA freak or a DUer or whatever. I’ve always been an animal lover, and killing elephants and leopards makes me sick. Sue me.

God gave us dominion over the earth and the animals in it, but we would do well to remember that He loves all of His creation, and He expects us to be good stewards of it. He made those animals and called them good. Killing to eat is one thing. Shooting them down just so someone can feel like a man (and from the looks of those Trump guys, that’s an ongoing issue) is another.

Gee...by your tag line I wouldn’t think you’d resort to name calling people you don’t know. Talk about pathetic!

Fortunately for me I don’t give a damn what people like you think.

Obviously. Facts, truth or embarrassment don't factor into your impulsiveness and silly imagination.

The Trump sons tweeted that the meat went to feed people. Some of those animals that were killed were actual nuisance to the locals.

The two frat-boys look more like they enjoy tennis and drinking. The one with all the brains and savvy is Ivanka.

Latest American Hunter, in a story on African big cats, cites 'best estimates' of leopard numbers in Africa as being over 700,000, compared to 50-75,000 lions; and spread over a much less restricted range.

Also, 2,200 CITES permits for leopard were issued in 2010.

IOW, not all that rare; and tightly controlled and regulated.

"Rare" should never be confused with "rarely seen" by casual observers.

They would have gone after other game but if they had shot and stuffed a beaver, Rosie O'Donnell would be ticked off.

“I probably should have made a distinction between hunting for food and “sport”. The “sport” anology is crap. It isn’t sport to hunt and kill an animal that doesn’t have a chance against a higher intelligent and armed foe. I have no problem with hunting for food as that is the nature of all mammals.”

Have you ever hunted? It doesn’t sound as if you have. If hunting was as you think it is, it would be no different than a slaughterhouse. I have known a lot of hunters, and none of them find slaughtering animals recreational.

If you are at all curious about real hunting, vs a perverse view of it, you might look at this book by Jose Ortega Gasset.

It gets rave reviews:

I wonder where they came up with the 700k estimate?

There are for sure a lot of elephants but I would never shoot one.

The other animals for the most part I’m not as squeemish about - there are huge herds of the cape buffalo and unfortunately for them they are food for the lions. I actually saw a female lion take one down and then watched as two more females helped once the first one got it down. And then, leisurly ambling towards the kill was the male. Lunch was served by the females.

Many of us understand the truth about the benefits of hunting to a wildlife population. The reason some responses to you are rude is because the uninformed knee-jerk reaction that we hear, over and over, gets a bit old after the years. States like Texas have proved that allowing controlled hunting and property rights, thus putting a value on rare animals, can help the animal population. Take the scimitar-horned oryx, for example. (Which will now really become endangered because Obamas FedGov is about to prohibit hunting it.)

http://www.petersenshunting.com/2012/01/31/60-minutes-on-hunting-endangered-oryx-in-texas/

Therefore, a very good way to ensure a healthy leopard population would be to allow landowners to sell a calculated number of hunting contracts on it. You can bet that the leopards will be well taken care of!

What would liberals rather have... a controlled safari hunt where the hunter pays a fortune for his hunt in tags, guides, porters, etc.? Or would they rather have some local yo-yo with an AK going out to nail a bull elephant for the value of it’s tusks?

Be willing to bet that the Brothers Trump paid for a Leopard tag, meaning that the local authorities sold them the right to take one. I don’t think that it’s likely that they just went out into the bush and shot one. These hunts have professional guides.

Elephants are migratory animals. IOW’s they have to move to be able to eat. They strip an area of the available browse very quickly.

Elephants would also be very difficult to move. You need to sedate them and they could die in that process. The logistics of moving an individual are difficult. A herd would be mind-boggling.
