Nine Ways the Jets Can Use Tebow (anti Christian bigotry)
Wall Street Journal ^ | March 2, 2012 | Kevin Clark, Scott Cacciola

Some of the nine ways:

"3. Team chaplain

Tebow's role as the Jets' unofficial team chaplain would blend nicely with his duties as custodian of the locker-room Swear Jar. All proceeds would go to a year-end pizza party.

4. Team chaperone ...

Based on our casual perusal of the sports pages, football players are no strangers to the social scene...

6. Make him the designated 'Hail Mary' guy....

7. Convert him to tailback.

I’ve got to be honest, I’m not sure he’s way off base.

I heard the GM of the Jets on the radio today, and he said outright they traded for him because he’s a good guy who can help the locker room. They have no intent of playing him beyond wildcat formations, and they mostly got him because their locker room is a mess and he’s a good guy.

He said that about 5 or 6 times.

So, it’s difficult then to argue with the premise of the article when the GM of the team says the same thing.

NY(or is it NJ?) is definitely not the place for Tebow...it can only get worse...I know, I live here(unfortunately)...

For the most part, this is zer0bama country....where they don't cling to guns and religion....

otherwise known as pagan Marxist country.

He starts with a plausible premise and puts a nasty bigoted spin on it.

Write to Kevin Clark at kevin.clark@wsj.com and Scott Cacciola at scott.cacciola@wsj.com

My email:

Hi Kevin. I was amazed by the religious bigotry on display in your satirical column this morning the the WSJ about Tim Tebow.

Are you that clueless? You insult millions of Christians when you make jokes about “hail mary”, “conversion guy” and suggest that Tebow, one of the most popular QB in history, should be the team chaplain and chaperone.

Would you print this kind of bigoted references to a highly admired man’s faith if he was a Muslim?

Would you make anti gay jokes if he was a member of the GBTL community?

If he advocated free contraception, would you make anti woman “slut” jokes?

Your jokes started my day off in a rage. And I don’t even like football.

Sorry, but I am telling all of my friends to let you know how un-pleased we are with the sports page today.

As soon as Mark Sanchez has a bad game, Tebow will be in there...

See the photo.

Actually most of those are pretty accurate. And given the stuff we know about the Jets the “insulting” ones are more a slam on NYJ than Christians, they do need a team chaplain/ chaperone, this is the team with a foot fetishist for a coach, one receiver that’s served multiple drug suspensions and another receiver that shot himself accidentally.

another receiver that shot himself accidentally.

Not so much a moral failing as a case of brazen stupidity.

Well then the team will implode.

Have you see some of the Jets players reactions to this? Antonio Cromartie came right and said he hates it and wants to know why they did it.

The Titanic be sinking.

Shame on the WSJ!

No matter the intent of the writers, their sarcasm(?), wherever it was intended to point, only contributes to unenlightened public discourse about persons of faith in public places.

Who do the Jets think their fans are — atheist intellectuals? Oh, wait, it’s New York...

As soon as Mark Sanchez has a bad game, Tebow will be in there...

Like that will be an improvement. Sanchez had better regular season stats than Tebow and Sanchez sucks. This season is shaping up to be a disaster. I should be used to it by now as a Jets fan, but it still stings.

Very well done.

The anti-Christian double standard needs to be confronted with hammered with extreme prejudice, EVERY time it is deployed.

This is the equivalent of the Palins going to the DNC convention. It makes me sick because he is a good guy who is absolutely going to be trashed. But he knows this and maybe he figures it’s his calling to change hearts.

I feel really bad for him and what is coming but have to remember that Jesus went among sinners instead of sitting on a safe little throne. I know we should do the same as best we can. Still...I think they will do everything in their huge power and cruelty to tear him apart so they can be comfortable in their amoral world.

A lot brazenly stupid people get there through moral failings. It’s usually a vast quantity of ego that makes them decide that not only does the law of man not apply, but also the laws of physics and common sense.

“Antonio Cromartie came right and said he hates it and wants to know why they did it.”

###
I can understand the reservations on a purely football basis.

But, would Cromartie have the exact same reaction to ANY mediocre backup QB the Jets acquired?

Who gives a rip what cromartie thinks? He is a loser with a bad attitude, afraid to hit and fouls like crazy when gets beat. As a lifelong Charger fan I was elated to see him go. Watch some of his greatest “hits” and you will see that despite his physicality, he is negative and not just on the field. I think 8 illegitimate kids a last count. Could be more by now. You would think that all that alimony and support would have him playing harder but NOPE just coasting and flapping his gums. I am sure his opposition to Tebow has far more to do with a guilty conscience than any commentary on skills.

Take a day off, PLEASE. Every Tebow thread has multiple posts by you “attempting” to appear like carefully considered critique. Everybody gets it, you can take a break now.
