It's going to get interesting at FR if Romney is nominated, innit??
Vanity | 23 March 2012 | Notary Sojac

I've put some heavy wear and tear on my keyboard making the point here that it's OK to loathe Romney, but to underestimate him is the act of a fool.

Those of us who have been on the "no Romney, no how!!" bandwagon here for the last year have had the luxury of believing that someone else would be able to keep Romney from the nomination.

That now appears increasingly unlikely, as we all are forced to face the fact that Freepers (and those out there who think like Freepers) are not a decisive majority in the Republican electorate. Not even close.

There are millions of long-time Republicans who are voting for Romney because he's a dignified, executive-looking gentleman who speaks in soothing patriotic platitudes. You don't have to like this, but it's true. (And no, they are not being operated by mind control rays from Karl Rove!)

So where does this leave us? Frankly I dunno. I would hope that those who advocate holding noses and voting for Romney don't get banned from FR. At the same time, I think it's very unlikely that I will vote for him. (I voted third party in 2008 in preference to McQueeg).

Supreme Court nominations. We know what to expect from Obama with Romney there is at least a chance.

Given Romney's 'track record' on judicial appointments in MA as governor, that 'chance' you speak of lies somewhere to the south of between "Jack" and "Squat"...

Sarah will endorse the Republican nominee, without question, I think she will do it after he/she secures the nomination.

What do you call the systematic dismantling of Rick Santorum on this forum??.....

We had a chance...we HAVE a chance to NOT have Romney, if we would just get behind our one viable candidate--RICK SANTORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Romney, if he prevails, may not be the candidate that we all hope he would be, but with the help of a Conservative Congress, most of what we want done will get done, but it will not be pretty.

Yeah...I can see it now...

A local candidate is selling himself door to door...you answer...you invite him in to get to know him...

Thru an informal grilling process you finally extract these tidbits...that...

(a) He's earned a fair amount of $ from the porn industry;
(b) He's forced everybody in your community into govt-run healthcare;
(c) He says he's "pro-life" -- but that healthcare provides $50 abortions & has a Planned Parenthood employee as a permanent healthcare member...plus while running his last "pro-life" campaign he told a member of the local media that it's "OK" for parents to give up their offspring to "research"...
(d) He was a member of an openly racist org thru age 31 -- an org that still keeps racist teachings in its constitution but says policy-wise, they've changed.
(e) And, oh, btw, he'll be a grown-up god some day...but, hey, no worry about "idolatry" if you endorse him.

ALL: B.O. Plenty's conclusion: "Well, you're a bit disappointing. You're not much of a candidate -- one I'd hope we'd have, let alone a candidate with an (R) attached, but I'll endorse you...even if you are to the left of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson!"

[To flesh out (a) & (c) above...(c) -- Romney told Katie Couric in Dec '07 'twas "OK" for parents to give their offspring to "research"...re: (a) Romney's been a board member for Marriott, which since at least 1989 has been selling porn inside its hotel rooms...something even they realize is problematic because they've announced they'll be stopping that practice...tell us the difference between a porn theater in bed with the porn industry & Marriott again? Aren't they all "porn theaters" & porn industry distributors?]

Hey, with "fickle" "discerning" "conservative" voters like you, the GOP's in "great shape" long-term! /sarc

Btw...here's 16 things Salvation just listed as to Romney not being the candidate "we'd hope to have": Are Mitt Romney’s Mormon beliefs something we should worry about?

But people seriously would consider voting for him?

FR pivoted from "PALIN COUNTRY" to "NEWT COUNTRY" almost on a dime, and all the 'bots here pivoted in perfect harmony. Now it's like Newt has been their idol since the Bronze Age. Pathetic.

Revealing your true agenda here?

If you do the same thing this time the country is finished. The number one goal of every freedom loving American MUST be to defeat O..

Posts #99 & #105 are for you, too, Nifster.

Hey, if we wanted to vote for somebody to the left of John F. Kennedy & Lyndon Johnson, we'd join the Democrats.

And why sell your conscience for somebody who's going to lose anyway?

If you could raise enough $ to help your fave NFL team get a better kicker -- and that results in one field goal in the SuperBowl that would have been missed by a slightly less-abled kicker -- what does that matter if you've changed the score from a 46-29 loss to a 46-32 loss?

Either way, you've wasted your vote...and $

I'm ABO, and that's been my position all along. I have not bashed any of the Republican candidates so far (with the exception of Ron-Paul Ahmadinejad, whose foreign policy is downright dangerous). Unless the Republican nominee were to start campaigning as pro-Obamacare, pro-abortion, or pro-homosexual marriage, I will vote for the Republican candidate against Obama.

As far as Omni-Romney, the Man of a Thousand Faces, I do not trust him, I have not promoted him, but, given the proviso mentioned above, and with a Congress more conservative than the Massachusetts legislature, I think there's a possibility, at least, that he will be significantly better than Chairman Obamao. I can't imagine anyone as bad as Obamarx.

Palin has said she’s ABO, so I expect her to endorse the Republican nominee.

I donated to Cain. I voted against Romney in the primary. I have had my say. All that remains is to vote against Obama.

Whether or not that vote is for a Third Party (don’t give me crap about “a third party vote is a vote for Obama.” As far as I can tell, a vote for Romney is about the same as a vote for Obama...) depends entirely how Romney sounds like after his “etch ‘n sketch” reset.

One cannot say Palin made nothing as it is estimated she has made millions.

As a Californian it makes no difference if I vote for any particular Republican there are so many diverse ones that Republican votes are swamped.

That's not a California problem, it's a national one.

We all knew... we ALL knew... back in September that this was the ONE year we had to coalesce around a single conservative, and do it early.

We all knew that.

We didn't do it. And now we've got 95% chance of Willard and 5% chance of Rick.

As this is a well posted thread more than likely this will get lost in the noise but here it goes.

I view the Romney situation exactly like one which happened in Western New York.

In a NY State 145th district Assemblyman election Michael Kearns, running on the Republican ticket won defeating a Sheeeeeeeldon Silver endorsed dumbocrap.

Now for the rest of the story. Kearns is a dyed in the wool dumbocrap and even admitted it Thursday while meeting with Sheeeeeeeldon Silver. He stated he has always been a democrat and will continue to support the democrat agenda in the legislature.

Now it gets really creepy. Communist under the bed creepy. Progressive democrats (read: Marxists) in the legislature want Kearns to sign a loyalty oath to the dumbocrap party (not to his constituents of course).

So, will or can the people who elected him throw him out of office for being a complete fraud or is that just another definition of a politician?

People, this is straight out of the former Soviet Union.

It is obvious we do not even have a TWO party system just a communist government party with a left and right wing but both sides in bed with each other so as to retain power.

To all Freepers who will not vote Romney, even though he will be running against America’s first Marxist President, who is intent on destroying this country, I say:

1. I respect your right to vote any way you choose.

2. I ask you to think of the two following individuals: Elenga Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. I ask you to consider the consequences of one, or possibly two, more appointments to the USSC that Obama may have the opportunity to make, should he be re-elected.

Yes, I’m running. And I may well end up being the only conservative on the ballot, the way it’s looking.

Thanks.

Not voting for Mitt IS voting for Obama. I respect standing on your principles and maybe I am wrong for not doing the same however I will be voting for the Republican candidate, just too much at stake with another four years of Obama and the number of Supreme Court appointments he would likely have. Yes I have doubts about Romney as well but he is more my guy than Obama.

If mittens gets the nod, I am gonna self ban from FR, me, my wild rants and my quarterly donations, because I won't be singing and dancing, but I'll be voting for mittens.

FReepers are mostly pretty sharp politically, but many are prideful to a fault.

There is a load of childishness, masquerading as false conservative values, and since you voted for obama in the last election, you will feel justified doing it again.

Not me, I'll be going on down the road.
