Wondering if any FReepers have seen it?

Is it in any way the typical Hollyweird leftwing agenda propaganda film?

Does it subject viewers to unwelcome homosexual crap? Like most Hollyweird stupidity anymore?

Or worth watching?

I saw it today. It’s a girl power movie. It’s going to make a ton of money.

it is good

i saw it twice with my daughter, who is infatuated with the books

it can easily be used to point out how evil that government control is

Saw it today and read the series. REALLY GOOD! It combines the roman gladiators with the short story The Lottery. Shows how governmentcan get out of control. Worth seeing.

I saw it yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. There was a pretty high body count, but no profanity or sex.

At the beginning there was some of that “shaky camera” stuff, but thank goodness that didn’t go on very long. If I was the film’s editor I might have found 15 or 20 minutes to cut, but overall I would recommend it.

I saw it yesterday. Wanted to see what all the hype was all about. I haven’t read any of the books so thought I would have issues understanding the movie, didn’t have any problems. Every showtime for the film was completely sold out. I really enjoyed the movie. Didn’t notice any lefty ideology in it at all.

I’m curious about this one too. It’s been on the radar for a while as an upcoming blockbuster. My hope is that it’s not pure leftist agitprop (like, say, Avatar) since it will be seen by lots of skulls full of mush.

I havent seen the movie yet, but the books are definitely not leftist propaganda. Underlying theme is seeking to be free of an oppressive government that rules by terrorizing the population with annual sacrifical games. A few postings I’ve seen elsewhere state that the movie has not received the ususal Hollywood leftist rewriting.

Saw it last night and didn’t find it exactly uplifting but it is well made. It is probably a cross mix of Gladiator, Running Man and Alice in Wonderland.

It’s a great movie. I think better than the book.

The left spins it this way: the evil, capitalist 1% lives in the Capitol and exploits the lives of the 99% to live absurdly overindulgent lives.

Yet they don’t mention that this structure is a GOVERNMENT creation, not one that arose naturally from a capitalist economy.

The right sees the movie’s oppressive government as the oppressive government it is.

I say go see it and help boost their record-setting weekend—they’ve made a great movie that’s well-acted, well-produced, and except for 5 minutes in the beginning, nicely filmed.

Seen it. To cover your questions: Highly recommend it. It is not typical Hollyweird leftist crap and the overriding message is the evil of a decadent, dictatorial government and the beginnings of rebellion against it. Low key almost romance. No Sex. Quite violent, but not graphic. It would be useful to either read the novel or a detailed summary before seeing the film, but that is not required.

Read the books, saw the movie. I highly recommend them. No left wing propaganda. If anything, it shows how easy is it for a dictatorial government to oppress it’s people.
