A teacher accused of having sex with one of her students 231 times over three years was acquitted yesterday when a judge ruled there was not enough evidence to convict her.
When the not guilty verdict was read out, Deborah Ashton's hands went to her mouth and she starting sobbing.
The 47-year-old was facing five charges of sex crimes against a student who claimed to have been 12 when their sexual relationship began in 2002.

Kid needs to have his ass caned in Singapore...
.
Was there enough proof that she should have been convicted?
I ask, because the fact that she might go after a 12 year old doesn’t seem as plausible. It almost seems a hit job by the student.
Very sad story for this teacher. It seems it could have reached this conclusion before putting this woman through this hell.
The part about the tatoo should have been enough early on for the prosecutors to know the story was not credible. Sad commentary on the prosecution. Happy the courst finally got it right.
Huh? only 231 times?
what is wrong with kids these days...
Anyone can make a mistake.
Just so long as they were not dancing!

How about importing ‘caners’ to deal with the large number of Ferals in our schools?
Yes, it seems that this case was a load of garbage.
Kid says he knows they had sex 231 times. Doesn’t know she has a huge tattoo on her belly. Says the majority of times they had sex in the back of her car - and the kid is unable to accurately describe the back of her car.
Should’a been my teach.......
Hey, kids - hate your teacher?
Accuse him/her of having sex with you, and ruin reputation and career, both.
It’s easy, it’s fun, and you’ll even become famous.
Hmmmm. Too obvious to claim that it was 1-2-3 times, so, mix up the numbers to say it was Oh, maybe 2-3-1 times, since 3-2-1 would not be believable.
The tat, or her belly?
LOL! Bump for beavers!
Except the teacher's pet.
I guess I'm older than dirt now, but for the life of me I just don't see anything remotely appealing about tattoos period, especially on women.
If I worked where such an accusation might be likely and/or could be particularly devastating - I would consider getting one.
This happened in Britain (it refers to the Crown), not the USA — the lawyers are sharper over here and probably would not have let this live as long as it did.
Now the lad doesn’t even have a credible brag any more, and it sure doesn’t sound like anything remotely like an honest mistake. He’ll get in deep dutch for this.
