When environmental organizations pushed Washington voters to approve their renewable energy Initiative 937, they touted biomass energy incinerated wood waste as one of their preferred alternatives to fossil fuel. They reasoned that biomass energy plants would help clear forests of flammable wood debris from dead and diseased timber, put idled loggers and millworkers back to work and produce cleaner, more affordable energy.
But since voters narrowly approved the initiative in 2006, many of those same activists are battling against biomass projects.

ut oh
Anything that prevents you from shivering in the dark... They’re against it.
Cheap and easy access to energy for the masses is the problem. The watermelon environmentalists believe that humans are a foreign infestation on the planet and they want 2/3 of us to die. Of course, as progressives, they consider themselves to be a superior form of Homo Sapien, so they deserve to survive the die-off even though most of them have no skills to survive outside of a city.
Yes it IS another outrage.
“For Olympic Peninsula workers and their struggling families, the opposition to biomass projects is both puzzling and frustrating........”
I’m as curious as they are as to why the Leftist’s pushed for the biomass, and are now fighting it unless they had an epiphany the war against burning coal being senseless/hypocritical if they allow the burning of biomass.
The only thing about that however is nothing has ever stopped a Leftist from being senseless, or hypocritical in past history, so why would this?
Very confusing.
They don’t like biomass, wind, hydro, nuclear or fossil fuels. Soon they’ll oppose solar.
So it needs to be re-investigated by the EPA, which will put it on hold forever.
I must say, some of this stuff on the left coast is beginning to make the Socialist Republic of Vermont look sensible. We have a wood stove and a wood pellet fireplace insert, and it saves us a ton of fuel oil. Everyone in Vermont burns wood and, curiously enough, just about everyone has a gun.
If this was California, the firewood police would be out in force. As it is, you can see smoke coming out of chimneys all over the place, all winter long. Burning local firewood just makes sense. And making pellets out of the scraps and sawdust from lumber mills also makes sense.
I’d saw wow but I’m not surprised. The left now opposes all energy. Good luck to them getting to their next Occupy stinkfest.
“The watermelon environmentalists believe that humans are a foreign infestation on the planet and they want 2/3 of us to die.”
No, they want 85% of us to die. Then the elites will live in luxury homes and the masses will serve them. You know, like Washington.
The effect of environmentalism has been the creation of a horde of hysterical bumpkins and terrified Ma and Pa Kettles in the midst of modern civilization.
Yup. Anything that might actually prove effective or profitable, they will come out against it, since their real goal is to destroy capitalism, not to protect the environment.
