I’ve played with some of the smaller remote controlled copters that friends have. They are very agile and easy to control. Don’t see why they couldn’t do this.

I'm a bit skeptical that a quadrotor of that size could heft a 15 pound machinegun and any appreciable load of ammo - and the recoil would throw that thing all over the place - but this will be the future of warfare.

The service battle labs are all discussing robotics for future wars and this is the most mobile, fastest, and most versatile way of delivering maximum hurt with the least loss.

I doubt that mannequins are going to blow up when hit with machine gunfire.

But, as a concept, it’s probably doable and being worked on in the lab.

I can see this eventually able to supercede humans in many respects, like being able to be silent and shoot from higher up.

FAKE!

I agree, the lack of sufficient recoil for the ammunition its firing on full auto is a dead giveaway.

I noticed he used short spurts, like it was on semi auto. I agree, for the size of the gun, the recoil would cause accuracy to be difficult.

I think the most immediate application would be small bombs. Since it can fly silent, it could position itself above enemy troops, drop a small bomb and fly back to base undetectable.

Yes.

Can predator drones fly in narrow spaces, small pipes, complex mazes?

“FAKE!”

I’m not so sure, although the accuracy was impressive given there was no aiming reticle on the pad that I could see.

If the recoil was engineered to be through the center of mass, the gun would point the same even though the aircraft was moving away from the target.

The mannequins blew up because they were loaded with a commonly available impact-sensitive explosive.

I was surprised that he blew the machine up at the end, that was a pretty expensive device any way you look at it.

One work, Recoil. As soon as you let a burst go that thing would be completely out of control. It just doesn't have the mass to counteract the recoil and muzzle rise of a SMG.

No, it’s definitely fake.

1) no upper receiver assembly—just a barrel
2) instant power-up and take-off?
3) HUD on tablet is black & white, first-person feed is color?
4) glitchy shadows from matching CG environment to actual environment
5) very small (but noticeable) jumps and jerks of copter due to a CG object being parented to an imperfect matchmoving solution
6) obviously fake muzzle flash on flash-suppressed barrel
7) same machine gun sound for every shot (there would be SOME variance)

Cool concept, great CG work, and an entertaining accent. Fun video, but ultimately fake.

“1) no upper receiver assembly—just a barrel”

Good catch. Also where is the lower assembly? Where is the magazine? I see no place to carry any ammunition in that weapon...
Fake

Yup -

Small bombs are a great idea, also perhaps small rockets like the LAAW or SMAW (great punch, no recoil).

I fear Nanite, biological and anti-matter weapons.

Civilizations and Empires crumble whenever a new secret weapon is revealed. What is China working on?

Yep, good catch. Apparently a promo for Call of Duty. Also a reminder to be careful what you believe based on video these days!

All that said, there is a real helo drone right now equpped with a .338 Lapua sniper rifle. It’s quite a bit bigger, at 1100 lb or so. It is, however, controlled by a laptop + Xbox controller. ;-)
