Vanity: Long time freeper needs an assist

I need some help putting my virtual fingers on an advertisement I saw on television a number of years ago.

As I remember it, the script was something like this:

• Internet start up advertises on TV (maybe super bowl)
• Start up staff excitedly watch ad and then run to web page that counts orders as they come into site
• Staff cheers when first few orders start counting
• Staff is perplexed when orders become an avalanche
• Cut-away to voice and text/logo overlay for IBM or Microsoft or somebody

Anyone who can remember key things in the ad please post. OR, if you can do a better Google or Youtube search than I can, and can post a link, I will surely appreciate it and nominate you for poster of the year.

I remember that one. I remember the first time I watched it and getting the same feeling of dread that the actors in the commercial did. A hundred thousand orders in ten seconds and still counting would make you want to crawl in a hole and hide. The first thing that I would think is I under priced it somehow and I’m going to lose money on every order, or break even, or make such a small amount of money it won’t be worth it.

I hated that commercial.
