Sociopaths are masters at influence and deception. Very little of what they say actually checks out in terms of facts or reality, but they're extremely skillful at making the things they say sound believable, even if they're just making them up out of thin air.

What is so funny is that this Adams fellow is probably a lefty owing to the general nature of the website where this is posted... But it is kind of spooky that most of those points seem to describe who we all think they describe.

we have a large family business - I worked 21 yrs there, left in 05 for ministry / pastorate....long story short, I returned in '11 - the first words out of his mouth were "Youre off the Board and you'll be just like any other employee because you abandoned the company"
it got so bad with my sibs that my disabled sister - who is extremely normal by every measure, had her finances managed by them until the age of 40.....My mother actually cooked another sibs meals well after she was married (my sis is a Dr)....some real sick stuff and an inability to let the kid grow up emotionally..its all about control.its their god
It breaks my heart too ...one day last year I told him all us sibs would give up all the money for a relationship with him....he responded - "the most important thing is the business, then my wife (mom) and then you kids"
He is honestly dead to me at this point - not in vengeance, rather self preservation

Unfortunately, sociopaths know that people think this way and often claim God speaks to them and wants the sociopath to spread his words.

Yes. I've had plenty of experience with these creeps.
They come in various versions.
Some are merely lazy and worthless.
The ones who are drawn to power present themselves as "saviors" and "unselfish" "public servants" who "want to give back," "rectify injustice," etc. When you hear this, make a mental note to rule out "sociopath".
The fools who worhip them are the real problem because they are the empowerers. The worshippers are characteristically fanatical. Fanatical loyalty of supporters is a big clue that you're dealing with a sociopath. The fanatical loyalty defies all logic.
History is full of woeful tales in which the "little cult group following" grew huge and took over nations and political parties.
Narcissists and sociopaths share traits such as a lack of empathy, but the difference is in impulse control.
True sociopaths, like serial killers, cannot stop themselves from murdering.
Narcissists, on the other hand, tend to stay just above the law. They screw people over in every way imaginable, but just not far enough to get busted.
Bernie Madoff would possibly be an example of someone who crossed this line.

I call the Community-Organizer-in-Chief by his right name about half the time. The same goes for his title, where 50% of the time I'll refer to him as "the former junior US Senator from Illinois", the highest title to which he is or ever will be entitled. Communists disgust me, and the fraud in our White House is at the upper end of the disgust scale.
Sociopaths who are not found out right away are smart. the average sociopath raises the hair on the back of your neck if you are above average in intelligence.

A big problem today is that there are soooo many young people who believe it is okay to lie. As long as whatever is being done does not hurt anyone it is okay. So they don’t care if someone lies and it doesn’t hurt them.
And it’s only going to get worse.
