Lot of moping around here of late...

To all the people moping and crying and declaring that all is lost: please read this Medal of Honor citation:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty at Saipan, Mariana Islands, 19 June to 7 July 1944. When his entire company was held up by fire from automatic weapons and small-arms fire from strongly fortified enemy positions that commanded the view of the company, Sgt. (then Pvt.) Baker voluntarily took a bazooka and dashed alone to within 100 yards of the enemy. Through heavy rifle and machinegun fire that was directed at him by the enemy, he knocked out the strong point, enabling his company to assault the ridge. Some days later while his company advanced across the open field flanked with obstructions and places of concealment for the enemy, Sgt. Baker again voluntarily took up a position in the rear to protect the company against surprise attack and came upon 2 heavily fortified enemy pockets manned by 2 officers and 10 enlisted men which had been bypassed. Without regard for such superior numbers, he unhesitatingly attacked and killed all of them. Five hundred yards farther, he discovered 6 men of the enemy who had concealed themselves behind our lines and destroyed all of them. On 7 July 1944, the perimeter of which Sgt. Baker was a part was attacked from 3 sides by from 3,000 to 5,000 Japanese. During the early stages of this attack, Sgt. Baker was seriously wounded but he insisted on remaining in the line and fired at the enemy at ranges sometimes as close as 5 yards until his ammunition ran out. Without ammunition and with his own weapon battered to uselessness from hand-to-hand combat, he was carried about 50 yards to the rear by a comrade, who was then himself wounded. At this point Sgt. Baker refused to be moved any farther stating that he preferred to be left to die rather than risk the lives of any more of his friends. A short time later, at his request, he was placed in a sitting position against a small tree. Another comrade, withdrawing, offered assistance. Sgt. Baker refused, insisting that he be left alone and be given a soldier's pistol with its remaining 8 rounds of ammunition. When last seen alive, Sgt. Baker was propped against a tree, pistol in hand, calmly facing the foe. Later Sgt. Baker's body was found in the same position, gun empty, with 8 Japanese lying dead before him. His deeds were in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S. Army.

Now, the country that man died for isn't dead, but it is close. Don't let it die. You know damn well Romney isn't as bad as Obama. Romeny will make a shitty president; Obama will be a true tyrant. The public isn't riled up enough to take the precipitous action that our forefather had in mind when they wrote the second amendment. Until that happens, we must minimize the damage. Romney's not going to come take our guns or rig votes or give public employee unions tons of power. I'll say it again: he'll be a poor president, but he won't actively try to destroy the country.

So why don't you stop crying into your O'Douls and fight to restore this country instead of carrying on your mutual-pity circle-jerk?

I leave you with some historical quotes as said by moping FReepers:

"Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahe- ah, forget it. I surrender; it's hopeless."

"I have not yet begun to cry!"

"In case of doubt, give up."

"If there must be trouble, let it be eternal, because I would rather complain than take action."

I need a drink.

Your point is well taken. I am not sure where we go to from here, but I am sure as hell that surrender is not the destination. Let’s roll, dammit.

Lot to mop about. The country that Sgt. Baker died for is long gone. Not to say he died in vain, he help prolong the existence of America as it was supposed to be.

A lot to mope about and no hope what soever on the horizon. As Rush said today, 0bamaCare is the law of the land and is here to stay. There is now silver lining.

I see your point with this story and it’s a great story, but that America has died. Barack 0bama and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and their ilk came along to ensure every soldier that shed his/her blood and gave up their life did so in vain.

I would never support anyone in my family if the told me they were going to go into 0bama’s military. Still a lot of great people are serving, but the purpose of their military is no longer good. We are not the USA anymore. This is officially 0bama Nation. There is no going back. We are over the cliff. The United States of America is dead and gone. Socialism is the new way.

Sorry, not voting for the Father of Gay Marriage in America.

I’ll leave that up to others willing to sell their soul and their principles because of Fear of Obama.

Nice try at wrapping a lying, left-wing, Progressive Liberal like Mitt Romney in the sacrifice of a real hero.

Godless peoples nurture nothing good for long. We have systematically dismantled ourselves and then our country, along with all it stood for.

There would be a declared war and blood in the streets had all these accomplishments been incapsulated into one thrust against us by some foreign power.

The body of the nation has been cut off from self-governance, now consumed by the head. Money is god and technology is the only sure enforcer.

How the brave souls of yesterday would react today’s reality is a mystery. They would be lost, broke and militarily impotent to rebel in the manner of the past.

There is little government has to fear from the people and we the people can not seem to figure out how to change that, short of the grace of God and His divine intervention.

We can extract no price from the enemy of liberty and freedom, until we can. The question is how to extract one, in an age of no risks, no resistance and no real brains and rebellion.

>Obama will be a true tyrant.

Better to have a true tyrant, if it spurs the people to action, than a horrible ‘pain’ who lulls people to sleep.

I need a drink.

Dude, a drink won't bring you down from the LSD. The America of 1944 is a lost memory. Look around at what America is now. Nice try, though. Nostalgia is about all we have left. I do grieve, though, for all the brave young men (like Sgt. Baker, cited above) who gave their lives defending this country for the benefit of the kind of selfish ingrates who in 2008 elected an African communist as President and Commander-in-Chief.

The United States of America is now little more than a huge land mass populated by cretins and parasites who have absolutely no respect for the military and who vote for big government to confiscate money from their neighbors and “redistribute” it to them in exchange for their votes. It is not an America worth defending anymore. That America no longer exists.

The parasites outnumber the hosts now, and there’s no going back. The Democrats have won.

(shrug) Nothing lasts forever. No point crying or whining about it. Just go to 'Plan B' and figure out how to suck every last dime you can out of the stinking government before the parasites gobble it all up. Look for angles. Look for refuges. Get under the radar.
