Okay, I'm not a noob, just a rube: how the heck do I post a picture?
To insert an image you use this
<img src = “put your link here” (and then add a right carrot) or greater than sign. Can’t put it here or FR will read it as HTML.
There is also a HTML guide on here somewhere.
Been a freeper for 12 years.. hell if I know... me thinks you have to use a host site.. sorry I can’t tell you. Other freepers will chime in...

Yes the image needs to be on the internet. Easiest way is to right click on the image and select ‘copy image location’
Line break <br>
Paragraph break <p>

Smallest FR font
<font size=7>Largest FR font<font> Displays as:

Step font size up or down with <big>bigger</big>
"Hidden" text: <font color=white> White font </font>

Clarity is needed - you can't just snag a favorite picture from a desktop folder...it has to be hosted someplace to be transferrable to our posts. ~ ErnBatavia

Easier done than said, once you get the hang of it.
1: Sign up for a free photobucket acct.
2: Upload your pix.
3: Once you have done that and view your album, under every picture four different html codes will be available. One will be for bulletin boards (usually an “img” prefix and suffix will show). The others are for...whatever. Click on the one that starts with “a=href” which will copy the code into your clipboard automatically...you don’t have to do Ctrl-C or anything. It will show “copied” as an indication that it has worked.
Then just paste (ctrl-V) or, right-click-paste the copied code into your FR post. Every forum that lets you post pix does it in slightly different ways, but the varaiations are few. You just have the try it a few different ways to see which works.
Keep in mind that once you have ANY kind of html in your FR post, you will have to delineate ALL paragraph breaks and the like. FR assumes that if you know a little html, it will cheerfully expect you to know A LOT of html.
Incidentally, a very useful little piece of software is MWsnap (search for it) which will allow you to crop and save almost ANY square or rectangle of pix information you can see on your screen. You can then save that saved rectangle. You will of course have to name it something. You can then upload that pix to your new photobucket acct. Then get the a=href code, then paste it here on FR. Easy.
remove the spaces - I pick an existing pic and get the image address. Leave one space between img and src. Put pic link between the quotes and preview.

Winner! Just what I needed, as a visual learner. Thanks! And amazingly, only one even slightly snarky response to my query!
I hope this worked.
Hey! I wasn’t being snarky! I freep on a cell. Easier said than done.. or maybe im just lazy and enjoy others photos..
Nah...you just need to know some ASCII codes;
And if you want to adjust the size, add a "height" in pixels to the end like this:
That looks like my front side!! Lol..
Don’t worry....I have been here almost 7 years and I have no idea.
It is a great page to teach the basics.
I just did one example....I can’t believe it. After all these years of being in the dark...you showed me the light....lol. Seriously I think your post will help me the most of all.
(no, no, not that one)
Well from my very humble and limited opinion this is the resident pro regarding picture taking and posting!!!!
Post 25 & 26 just made my day. Thanks!

Photobucket shows 4 format choices, for Free Republic use the 3rd one down. You can just paste the link right into your post.

Yes, SWAMPSNIPER, I remember the instructions. I did NOT want to give them out without due credit as to where I learned them....
