I know it sounds weird, bit as a little kid, I loved her show on PBS. I watched her as a kid and it stirred my interest in coooking which is now my job. Politics aside, she was a great dame

I learned the spook stuff in the Navy.
I learned to Cook from Great Grandma, Mom, Marion and Irma Rombaugher and Julia Child.

It’s all about knowing what you are working with.

Awww. You, too? I was fascinated with watching her as a child. Always made me hungry! LOL!

When I lived in the UK.....they have their own version. Her name is Delia Smith and I use her cookbook from time to time. Her roasted chicken is AWESOME as she uses overlapped bacon to cover the chicken breast during baking. It’s fool proof, really.

This is the recipe from the book that I use:

I have several of her cookbooks. In one of them Julia Child said she could never sit & break bread at the same table with a Republican, that it was part of her New Deal background.

OK, fine.

Not a fan of Meryl Streeps' politics, but the movie she did about Julia Child is excellent.

I watched Childs' cooking shows for years. They finally had to take her off because she was drinking too much. It just went with her character...which was her being herself.
Bless her...it helped develop my appreciation for the nuances of cooking...and enjoying life.

Many of you know that Julia was a Bostonian. Some may even know that 1) she lived in the richest, most “progressive” section of Cambridge (Brattle Street) and 2)that she was a power behind the scenes at Boston’s PBS station (WGBH).What most don’t know is that she was up to her eyeballs in one of the filthiest little pieces of “progressive” racism in recent Boston history (google “Commonwealth Day School”) and that when one of WGBH’s own commentators once went on the air to expose this filthy incident she got on the phone and demanded that the producer shut the commentator up...*while he was on the air*.This incident alone qualifies her for the title of filthy, phoney left wing racist.

Did she not also do cooking demonstrations as fundraisers for Planned Barrenhood??? That would be an even filthier little piece of progressive racism.
