The key to this article is “by an adult with a healthy diet”. Seriously? With as healthy diet is nearly impossible to attain these days. Our food is grown for color and sometimes taste, NOT nutritional value. I don’t know of anyone who eats 7-9 services of fruits and vegetables EVERY DAY. Do you?

Been taking fish oil for years. It’s absolutely worth the money.

Kinda surprised about valerian root. I’ve been taking valerian for years to help me sleep. It’s truly a wonder root for deep REM sleep. Melatonin is great for getting to sleep.

I’m a fish and flax oil and vitamin D user.

That said, I think anything harmless is fine if people want to believe.

I’ve been casting around for something a little different to grow and health benefits are a plus. I think I’ve settled on Paw Paws. I’ve been reading some good things about them.

My wife and I do. Blueberries, raspberries, grapes, apples, peaches, pears, pineapple, bananas... all go GREAT with Greek yogurt for a snack or a dessert.

We eat veggies every way possible. Our recent favorite is using cauliflower in the blender with some cream and butter... just like mashed taters!

Agree on melatonin. I’m a hard-core ‘show me’ kind of guy. I have to say I sleep better with melatonin. God knows there’s enough to keep me awake these days.

I took a 10 mg melatonin with two 400 mg valerian caps and slept like I was dead. I fall asleep in less than 20 mins with melatonin, and I’ve yet to wake up during a valerian coma.

The only side effect is incredibly vivid and active dreaming, but most of my dreams have been pleasant.

Very good points. As a poster boy for poor eating (but not obese), I might eat any significant serving at all of fruits and vegetables three or four times a year -- maybe those would add up to one day a year of adequate intake LOL. Have to start hitting Granny's Buffet more often. But I'm still here, if struggling. a little (not diet related)

First thing I notice looking at the chart -- Tumeric at the bottom??? Sure, if thousands of years of experience with curcumin is all wet.

Your chart shows it as worthless.

One serving is a surprisingly small amount. It is only 1/2 cup of raw or cooked food (less for dried). A good sized apple would be 2 servings. One website I looked at said that a cup of sliced bananas is 1 1/3 medium bananas, so a medium banana would be one and a half servings.

And don't even get me started when bing cherries are in season. I found some down to $1.49/lb and annoyed everyone in the office with my piles of stems and pits in the trash.

Veggies, eh, not so much.

I can’t believe this chart left off apple cider vinegar. The benefits of that stuff is just unbelievable.

Actually the chart just says that it hasn't been subject to any scientifically controlled double blind testing. It could be good, it could be worthless, it could be detrimental but it hasn't been properly tested.

“by an adult with a healthy diet”.

Clearly the only way magnesium could end up at the bottom of the bottom tier.

And I can't leave without a jab at the misuse of the word "healthy". The word that should have been used is "healthful".

Saw Palmetto does work. I have been taking it for over 15 years. At 58 years old my PSA number is very low.
