Article II Super PAC wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) for the proper priority you place on the faithful observation of this national security provision of the Constitution by citing it in the first of your 2012 Nonpartisan Selection Criteria.
It has come to our attention that CPD may not recognize or apply any specific definition for "natural born Citizen" in the process of qualifying candidates' satisfaction of Presidential eligibility. If this is in error, we would appreciate any information on how you qualify Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates' eligibility as natural born Citizens.
In summary, we ask that the CPD clarify its official position on this national security issue and explain how the CPD qualifies Presidential candidates' constitutional eligibility as natural born Citizens of the United States.

That’s a big difference, and a mighty important one.
Yes, that's what I've been saying for 5 years. The GOP wants to get an ineligible candidate elected. There are forces who want to undermine the US Constitution and the Executive Office. Sad to say, but the GOP is right in there with the RATS on this. They tried with McCain. Last election, the ticket with eligible candidates wasn't Obama/Biden, or McCain/Palin, or even Nader/Gonzalez but the fourth ticket of Barr/Root. Yes, truth be told, Barr should have been sworn in according to the Constitution requirements for POTUS. The GOP was a party to treason. They know it and that's why they are running Romney. As soon as Romney is elected, all questions about them ignoring Obama's eligibility can be swept under the rug and they all get off scot free.
bgill, there’s a difference between anchor babies born to Mexican citizens and babies born outside the U.S. to U.S. citizens, who are, by any definition, U.S. citizens.
You could make the argument that George Romney, born a citizen but on Mexican soil, was not natural-born, but he was by any measure a U.S. citizen living in Mexico. There are those who hold that place of birth is as important as inherited citizenship of the parents in determining “natural-born” status, but not in determining citizenship. George Romney was a U.S. citizen from birth, due to his parents’ citizenship.
However, that argument is simply a full generation removed from Mitt Romney. He was born on U.S. soil to two U.S.citizens.
Totally different case from George Romney and totally different from Obama.
No one is saying Mitt isn't a US citizen, however he is not a natural born citizen which is a requirement of the Constitution.
Talk all you want, but it is very much the same thing.

The difference being that Obama’s father was never a US citizen....
and Mitt’s father was born in Mexico to US citizen parents making him a US citizen, though not meeting the definition of NBC.
It is not neccessary that an NBC’s parents also be NBCs.....only that they be citizens at the time of the birth.Mitt meets the standard because his parents were US citizens.......and therefore a non-issue for Mitt, but still an issue for Obama......

A baby born on U. S. soil to two U.S. citizen parents vs. a man (birthplace unknown) born to a foreign father and an underage U.S. teenager is NOT the same by any rational standard.
bgill, I know from reading your posts on FR over the years that you are capable of thinking this through. Mitt Romney was born on U.S. soil to two U.S. citizen parents. Barry Obama was not. Simple difference, and you can see it even if you can’t admit it.

Commission on Presidential Debates’ Nonpartisan Candidate Selection Criteria For 2012 General Election Debate Participation
A. INTRODUCTION
The mission of the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates (the “CPD”) is to ensure, for the benefit of the American electorate, that general election debates are held every four years between the leading candidates for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States. The CPD sponsored a series of such debates in each of the past six general elections, and has begun the planning, preparation, and organization of a series of nonpartisan debates among leading candidates for the Presidency and Vice Presidency in the 2012 general election. As in prior years, the CPD’s voter educational activities will be conducted in accordance with all applicable legal requirements, including regulations of the Federal Election Commission that require that debate sponsors extend invitations to debate based on the application of “pre-established, objective” criteria.
The goal of the CPD’s debates is to afford the members of the public an opportunity to sharpen their views, in a focused debate format, of those candidates from among whom the next President and Vice President will be selected. In each of the last six elections, there were scores of declared candidates for the Presidency, excluding those seeking the nomination of one of the major parties. During the course of the campaign, the candidates are afforded many opportunities in a great variety of forums to advance their candidacies. In order most fully and fairly to achieve the educational purposes of its debates, the CPD has developed nonpartisan, objective criteria upon which it will base its decisions regarding selection of the candidates to participate in its 2012 debates. The purpose of the criteria is to identify those candidates who have achieved a level of electoral support such that they realistically are considered to be among the principal rivals for the Presidency.
In connection with the 2012 general election, the CPD will apply three criteria to each declared candidate to determine whether that candidate qualifies for inclusion in one or more of the CPD’s debates. The criteria are (1) constitutional eligibility, (2) ballot access, and (3) electoral support. All three criteria shall be satisfied before a candidate will be invited to debate.
B. 2012 NONPARTISAN SELECTION CRITERIA
The CPD’s nonpartisan criteria for selecting candidates to participate in the 2012 general election presidential debates are:
1. EVIDENCE OF CONSTITUTIONAL ELIGIBILITY
The CPD’s first criterion requires satisfaction of the eligibility requirements of Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution. The requirements are satisfied if the candidate:
a. is at least 35 years of age;
b. is a Natural Born Citizen of the United States and a resident of the United States for fourteen years; and
c. is otherwise eligible under the Constitution.

I’m going to need more than just your word that George was a US citizen. Born on Mexican soil, questions of his citizenship back when he ran for POTUS before he dropped out and no waving of naturalization papers.
Here is their mission statement, which, it seems to me, obligates them to demonstrate some semblance of integrity in explaining to voters how they determine whether or not a candidate is a Natural Born Citizen:

However, Romney’s father became a US citizen prior to Mitt’s birth. Mitt was of course born on American soil.
Obama’s father never became a US citizen. Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen. And there still is no confirmation that Obama was born on American soil.

You are confusing the issue. Mitt’s father WAS a US citizen, and Mitt himself WAS born in the USA with BOTH parents being US citizens at the time of his birth.
