Why not unearth it? I don’t understand why they’d leave a piece of history to be re-buried by the shifting sands.

From what I can see from the picture there’s really not too much left to restore. And what references do they have to the original ship, like, what did it look like? Just wondering.

I'm buying this viewer's comment:

"In fact, the ship was built in 1919 and was called 'The Rachel.'. She sank during a storm around 1930, while carrying a load of lumber. The ship was looted of it's cargo and set afire. What is left is the skeleton that will once again be covered by sand and surf until the next hurricane."

Actually, this is all that remains of a rebel blockade runner intercepted by Darth Vader's star star destroyer while carrying secret plans of a Death Star. Masquerading as a consular ship, the caption was unable to identify the location of the ambassador (for obvious reasons), and was susequently destroyed. Only a single life pod managed to escape, but no life forms were detected aboard.

But is it the same ship? Is there a name somewhere on it? Did all the blockade runners look the same? There’s nothing there but the outline of a shell of a ship. Nothing in the middle but sand. I’ve seen several different pictures of blockade runners.

The ship in the picture is ,The Advance
This was from the comments section :
I'm afraid that the DM has not researched this story....
this ship has been uncovered a number of times, as recently as 2008, by hurricanes.
In 2008, historians discovered that parts of the ship were from post Civil War. In fact, the ship was built in 1919 and was called 'The Rachel.'.
She sank during a storm around 1930, while carrying a load of lumber.
The ship was looted of it's cargo and set afire. What is left is the skeleton that will once again be covered by sand and surf until the next hurricane.

What’s up? I posted from the source[facebook], is that not allowed? Daily Mail just aggregates stories and uses their images, I did not post a Daily Mail photo.

That was not a Daily Mail photo. The Daily Mail hot linked it from a Facebook account.

The photo upthread is certainly consistent with the “set afire” story. That’s what would remain of a wooden ship that burned to the waterline.
