I’m not sure what I’d use it for, other than removing rust. In general, I don’t use it on firearms, so cannot comment on its suitability. I use it to free rusted bolts on machinery. I clean it off, and use a heavier oil or grease when reassembling. I have never seen 3-in-1 or Kroil damage finishes.
Note that I’m not claiming to be an expert on gun cleaning ... I merely mention a few things that I find useful.
I’d rather have the dust and dry heat here in NM rather than humidity. In a pinch,I have used Wd-40 for short term cleaning of guns.
NOT ME! I miss the south! Green, Trees, Water, Sweet Tea everywhere, Green, Trees, water, cat fish and hush puppies, Green, Trees, Water, friendly Christian conservatives, Green, Trees,Water, conservative legislatures, Green, Trees, Water, pork barbecue and did I mention Green, Trees and Water?
Got 2, shootin' and treasure hunting/prospecting :-)
Kinda tough trying to get in decent time while working 50-70 hours a week though...
As an aside, your mention of Zippo Fuel reminds me, Naptha is the primary to sole ingriediant in most fuel additives for cleaning the fuel system/carbs/intake. A can of the “additive” costs about 5X the equivalent size of lighter fluid (and I’ve used the stuff a lot in the past).
Thanks. I will look into those.
I am good, hope you are the same.
Nose in the wind!
