“Dollar Index Headed for Rapid Collapse” Over Next 3 to 4 Weeks
SHTF Plan ^ | 9/18/12 | Mac Slavo

Posted on 09/18/2012 5:22:07 PM PDT by Kartographer

If you think the Federal Reserve’s quantitative easing will only affect the US dollar, think again. Now that the United States has officially begun it’s third round of money printing to the tune of at least $40 billion monthly, central banks around the world will also act to ‘defend’ their currencies in kind.

Moreover, because everyone is joining the fray, all of that extra money will make its way into key resource stocks and commodities, adding further upside price pressure to essential goods like food and fuel.

It’s a race to the bottom, and the losers are the 99.9% of us who aren’t being kept in the loop.

Not just governments but most major banks are broke and working on the edge. Most of the largest Mega Banks have derivatives exposures that are 40-50-60 times their total assets, so what happens if Europe does collapse (which is fairly likely) causing them to loose just a modest percentage on those derivatives? ( http://ncrenegade.com/financial/fdic-statistics-read-em-and-weep-ann-barnhardt/ )

Personally I expect that we are in for something like the collapse of Argentina ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yerKMQc7-w&feature=grec_index )but on a global scale.

When you add in the fact that their is a growing concern for social unrest regardless of which way the election goes, the next few months will be like walking a mine field.

Recent events show (Flash Mobs, OWS, etc) we have a large entitlement minded population that is violent prone and armed. I think that during a collapse you will see many small businesses wiped out by flash mob looting, and once started it will quickly spread to rape, robbery and murder for murder sake. You will see what I call ‘pocket pogroms’ and if you ain’t ‘Amish’ you better not be around when they come.

Many of these ‘yutes’ will think no more about killing you than most people think about stepping on a roach. That will be the test of many. Most preppers I know are Christian people and they will hesitate to do what they might have to do to stop the ‘yutes’. On the other hand the ‘yutes’ won’t think twice nor lose a minute of sleep, in fact they will smile and laugh about it.

I can’t help, but think of this quote which is one of my favorites:

“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Siege of AR-558 (#7.8)” (1998)

Quark: “Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They’re a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don’t believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.”

Clearly there’s a storm coming, as great as a hurricane and like you do when a hurricane comes your way you either prepare to weather it or you become a victim of it.

For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:

http://tomeaker.com/kart/Preparedness1j.pdf

NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!

For those of you who haven’t started already it’s time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3

“There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.”

I am amazed it hasn’t happened already.

The only thing keeping us going is everyone else is just as or more screwed up than we are

Or the opposite.

China and Japan get out of hand, and it impacts trade with China.

In which case Chinese imports crash.

Good for the US dollar.

Just a contrary view.

I am sorry but you really drop some credibility quoting quark from star trek dealing with the seriousness of the evil nature of people. I don’t care how great you think the quote is.

You really need to stop yourself from using it.

SHTFplan might be a decent enough article site, but I was forced to take them of my Serious Consideration Sitelist. On two recent articles, the 9-11 Truthers came boiling out from under their rocks. I don’t give Truthers the oxygen they steal from the sparrows.

I’ve got such a complaint before about using this quote mostly saying that my use of the quote from a fantasy TV program undermines the seriousness and the creditably of the subject.

I have always felt that you can find core truths in many places, sometimes even in very unusual places, but that doesn’t take away from their truth. This discussion makes me think of another ‘fantasy quote, one from John Wayne’s Movie ‘The Shootist’: “I won’t be wronged. I won’t be insulted. I won’t be laid a-hand on. I don’t do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.” Tell me what’s not true here? Would not the world as a whole be better if all tried to follow this simple code?

But back to my Star Trek quote, for those that don’t understand the point this quote is making how about if I ‘translate’ it:

John Doe: “Let me tell you something about people, Nephew. Most are wonderful and friendly as long as their bellies are full and their tv’s are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, hot showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty gangbanger. You don’t believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.”

So tell me is this not a true statement of what happens to people once placed under such stressful conditions? You would be surprised how many people don’t realize the transformations that can take place under such conditions. And because of their ignorance many won’t even live long learn.

If you can’t understand that then I suggest that you do both of us a favor and stop reading my post after all you your own words say that you can’t be taking me seriously.

So if the dollar collapse how much to you think a barrel of oil would cost? How much would a gallon of gasoline cost made from that oil?

I don't think this will matter Kartographer, even though I know the point you wish to make. I know that your preppers thread appeals to a wide margin of folks, and perhaps I am within that margin - barely.

I do not foresee the availability of oil and gasoline at any cost, at least not within the cost that Me and Mine would be willing to pay.

I think we are going to an unforeseen place.

As the dollar is set to collapse the price of gold will rise fantastically. If one is very certain that the value of the dollar will collapse, the only logical position is to convert 90% of all dollars held to physical gold and silver assets. This will allow one to stay liquid and be able to 'buy back in' when the economy returns to normal...or what passes for normal with whatever currency replaces the dollar. Just be damned sure before doing so.

Personally, I don't have the guts, or the crystal ball to see what's coming.

While I'm not surprised that you got a complaint, I do agree that truth is where you find it.

I also know that for a message to be received as it was sent, one must use the best language to get that done. I can see how some might not agree, but the Quark quote works for me.

Those of us who grew up on science fiction have a special kind of fascination/horror about the events of our time.

We aren't surprised to see the science fictional tech of yesterday become the scientific facts of today.

Unfortunately, from this perspective, it's also no big leap of faith to see some of the more terrifying aspects of those science fictional societies also coming to life.

So, from that point of view, Quark's words of wisdom aren't fantasy. They are our future, our closer by the day/event, not too distant future.
