Black woman stands her ground, kills white man
Spero News ^ | September 18, 2012 | Martin Barillas

Houston area investigators are looking into a stand-your-ground case where after a minor fender-bender, a 22-year-old white male was shot and killed by a 23-year-old black woman. During a morning commute, Crystal Scott and Jonathan Ables were in an accident and pulled into a Shell gasoline station to survey the damage.

According to Scott, Ables exited his truck and ran toward her driver-side door. Scott said he yelled and then hit her door and tried to open it. Fearing for her life, Scott pulled her pistol and shot Ables once through the driver’s window and struck him in the chest. Ables died at the scene.

A Harris County Sheriff’s spokesman, Sgt. Felipe Rivera said “From what we understand it was maybe just a minor accident,” while adding, “The information we’re getting is that it appeared to be a minor accident that turned into road rage.”

>snip<

An eyewitness, who appeared on camera but has requested anonymity, said that he did not hear any threat in the seconds before Scott killed Ables. The witness was pumping gas and standing 15 feet away from Ables when a bullet ricocheted past him and struck his car. The bullet left a noticeable impression on the witness’s car.

As for Scott’s version of events, the witness said that if Ables had shouted or banged on the car, he would have heard it. “What drew my attention was the gunshot,” said the witness. “I just want to be sure that I do everything in my power that everything is fair. I care about it being fair,” he said. The Harris County sheriff’s department has not yet responded to Spero News’ request for any security footage of the shooting.

Where does it say that the bullet hole in the picture is in her car as opposed to the car of the guy pumping gas (a bullet hit it)? Where does it say that Scott got out of the car and chased him (as you said on the second thread you started) then shot him twice while he was on the ground (which you also claim)?

It doesn't say anything of the kind at all. You are just talking out your butt as others have noted.

The picture of her car taped off by the police is self-explanatory and worth a thousand words. But in case you needed more words then here from one commenter to the Chronicle:

"This lady had many other choices than to shoot this young man. The info I have , that came from a family member of the young man that was shot, reflects that the story written here is a bit mis-leading at best. No where did it mention that she actually missed with the first shot, but she did chase the young man away with that shot. Then she got out of her car and chased him and then shot and killed him. I have a hard time understanding why this would be considered self defense. In my mind, she committed murder or manslaughter at least."

You are just talking out your butt as others have noted.

A butt that has more sense than your brain.

Hmm, UC, I think what's going on here that is leading you astray is you are trying to apply hunting laws to a self-defense situation.

That Texas law doesn't say you can't get out and chase the perp around and kill him. Under SYG victims aren't required to think up less exacting scenarios they might or might not be able to play out.

As far as hunting goes, he had the big truck and she had the small car ~ and apparently he was engaged in inappropriate behavior ~ particularly if he was doing the stop and squat stuff ~ very dangerous ~ a death threat if nothing else is, and he was on the road doing that to a woman in a smaller vehicle.

So she shot him ~ get over it.

UC, You do know we are working within the framework of the Texas law, not some other state's law. It's based entirely on the state of mind ~ lady called the cops ~ they weren't there yet, so she took off after him.

Given the circumstances that's just common sense if you can do it. Lots folks can't push their fear aside to protect themselves.

Those holes are in his chest, right? Not his back? He wasn't deterred by one warning shot ~ took 2 more ~ and what about that make sheet that refers to his tatoos ~ ever find out what they mean?

"Sometimes it's hard to see past the blackness: we do have a tendency to assume all black males are high testosterone potential rapists."

Only a moron or a race-baiting Culture of Victimhood hustler would fail (or claim to fail) to see the tone of repentance and the self-admission of a false perception of blacks in that statement. The very essence of it is a recanting of the attitude of prejudging people.

When Eric Holder said this was "a nation of cowards" when it comes to openly discussing race he failed to say who was to blame for that. It is those like you who speak in the very worst tradition of the race hustler who jump on the mere mention of race relations with the mentality of a buzzard.

Facts be damned, logic be damned, truth be damned nothing matters to the likes of you but feeding your own ego and pushing the agenda. You are every bit the phony advocate of race relations as Al Sharpton. A complete fraud who cares nothing about the real issue and whose actions only serve to make things worse.

despite what was posted on my previous link to the fb site for the man shot, the screen cap of the driving violations appear to have the correct bdate for the age of the deceased. i’m not sure what about the different Jonathan Ables that is 25 they are speaking about.

more reason for facts to come out, but no doubt, there is a large racial divide on comments i’ve read on the houston news sites.

they are saying that’s not him, but the screen shot posted by scout(?), the birthday fits the deceased man’s age. not sure why the justice fb site says that the “marijuana” arrest are for a 25 year-old.

In my reading of the comments of the Houston Chronicle it appears that it's the itchy trigger finger divide.

Because she used a gun off another person she is applauded -- period.

She had to have been in the right because she had a CHL and she used her weapon and and she accomplished her kill and for that the itchy trigger finger crowd give her a round of applause.

Whether her pulling the trigger three times was justified by the facts is irrelevant to them.

Post 201 is quite definitive. It will be easy to tell if it is him or not.

Ask them for his middle name.

The entire scenario is questionable to me.
His truck parked in front of her car, looks some distance away. (not right next to)
He had to walk toward her, giving her a few seconds to drive off or wait for the 911 she called.
It appears she admits to both of them playing tag with their respective cars.
The bullet hole is in a strange place (window) for the deceased man (coming from in front of her car) to have been reaching down, and according to some comments on the news site, attempting to either open the door or drag her from the car. In pictures that doesn’t make sense to me. He looks to have been shot while approaching the vehicle. But what do I know. The 911 tape should be interesting.

I know lawyers are quick, but that one she has (a criminal lawyer in some high profile cases, gun cases) got there in a flash (lawyer time).

It’s almost as if they had a ringer driving around trying to provoke a test case designed to get the law struck down, is the admittedly farfetched impression I’ve been getting today.

The crazy Obama-time we live in is nuts. It wouldn’t surprise me. I watched some video of this, her family looks ticked-off while at the scene.

Here is a commenter from the Houston Chronicle:

Estban 1:46 PM on September 17, 2012:

I happened to drive by the scene earlier, i can answer a few questions that i have seen posted on here.. She shot once through her rolled up window, There were markers next to the car showing what to appeared be 3 more Shell casings. The man was white, he was lying about 30’ from the car. She was not blocked in, the mans truck was parked a good distance from where her car was parked. No visible damage on either vehicle. It appears there was one shot from inside the vehicle, 3 more from outside the vehicle. Seems fishy to me.

<>The entire scenario is questionable to me.<>

This other comment from the Chronicle says she got out of the car and chased him down and shot him twice:

MrTeymour 5:29 PM on September 21, 2012

I am appauled at my fellow gun lovers that spew thier garbage before getting all the facts in a case. This lady had many other choices than to shoot this young man. In my mind, she committed murder or manslaughter at least. It is cases like this one that will destroy the ability of the law abiding citizen to protect ourselves.

that would somewhat appear to mimic the crime scene photos. if he broke the window, he’d have blood and glass on his hands. the bullet hole is in a strange place on the car (next to the window frame?). i first thought possible the person pumping gas (his vehicle) was either dented by a pass through shot or a ricochet. that she fired more than once, is questionable. three shots, in broad daylight, at a public place is overkill on self defense. (IMHO)

I checked forty news sites today and none of the stories mention that she fired initially from within the car and then got out and fired twice more striking him in the chest outside of the vehicle as he was moving away from it. They all make it sound like she shot and killed him as he was trying to enter the vehicle.
