No...this was a mutation in the BRCA gene...it wasn’t one unique Y chromosome (which was the evidence from the Ghengis Khan story), so it was a group of people rather than one. At least that’s what it appears to be, though I am no expert.

The yemenite jews are descended from those who left judah before the fall of the first temple. That is why their liturgy is older than that of other jews. They also took their families with them as it was an exodus... As to the articles posted that said jews are descended from just one man but 4 women, there are the 4 matriarchs

During and before the Inquisition, many Jews changed their names and went underground (in worship) to avoid persecution. One surname that comes to mind is Benavidez. A shortened form of Ben David with the “ez” added to sound more Spanish.

So did Columbus have any Jewish members of his crew?I read an article about 10 years ago that claimed that Columbus, himself, was Jewish. I think that it was in the Smithsonian.

If Jacob had twelve sons and only one tribe, Judah, is continuous and known extant would the other Lost Tribes not have a different DNA mix? Jews are descendants of Judah and not of all Israel, correct?

No.
Judah, Benjamin and Levy survived more-or-less intact. Shimon’s portion was mostly within Judah, so it is safe to think they were included with Judah. These were joined by remnant faithful of the other tribes when the two kingdoms split.
The DNA profiles of all the tribes would be similar, and related most closely to others from the Mideast.

My dad has been doing genealogy research and up the tree, we had a Jewish Rabbi which makes me 1/16th Jewish. And I am proud of that part of my ancestry. I am mostly German blood though.
I found out my great grandmother was a Russian Jew who suffered under the pogroms back in Russia, she had two villages burned out from under her.

Also, when Assyria crushed the Northern Kingdom of Israel, many refugees moved south. But putting that aside, the genes of Jews (Ashkenazi, Sephardic, and Mizrahi) are are closes to Samaritans (they still exist) and Kurds.
I've never understood the desire of Europeans to imagine themselves Northern Israelites. They betray their history in a desire to be a remnant of a group sent to oblivion for horrible behavior?
