A RESTAURANT chain has apologised for accidentally serving alcohol to a toddler in Wales, calling it a case of human error.

The BBC reported that two-year-old Sonny Rees was taken to a hospital emergency room after drinking whisky at his second birthday party at a Frankie and Benny's restaurant in Swansea.

His mother, Nina Rees, said he was clearly intoxicated. She said she tasted his drink, which was supposed to be lime juice and water, after noticing that he was making a funny face.

"It was whisky, I would say a double. As soon as I sipped it I had the slight burny feeling in my throat and warming in my chest," she said.

"Sonny had taken about 10 sips - he was obviously intoxicated."

At the hospital, the staff monitored his vital signs and later gave him the all-clear.

Frankie and Benny's said it was extremely sorry for Saturday's incident and is looking into what systems need to be put in place to ensure that it does not happen again.

I actually never heard of that one. That's the name? Feckin'? Irish sense of humor behind that one.

I've had Bushmills (although I don't drink it), Jameson, Tullamore Dew, Red Breast, Michael Collins, and on a very rare occasion, Midleton.

I cry BS! That drink in the photo is not whisky. A 2 year old would spit it out anyway. The story says double whisky. NO 2 year old would drink it!
People will buy into anything!

feckin is a smooth, kind of sweet, irish whiskey. and about the same price as jameson, but it’s hard to find as it’s pretty new in the american market. if you ever get around the lansing area, i’ll treat to one (or 5)
for rare occasions, try the wild geese single malt irish. about $100/ bottle, but it’s a really good sipping whiskey.

and feckin does really good advertising based on it’s name- last st patty’s day i got a promo shirt that’s borderline censorable, but funny.

I'm not up in Lansing that often anymore, but I'll take you up on that and will buy the next one.

I miss Moriarty's from my MSU days.

Reminds me of my days with Grandpa.

“Ahhhhh....paper covers rock. You win again! Here’s another drink.”

I still get woozy when I see a piece of paper.

Why, the little nipper’s takin’ a nip, isn’t he? It’ll keep him from getting worms. Look at me.....never had worms.....unless I was drinking tequila.

was never a big moriarty’s fan, i always preferred the irish pub.
my current place of respite is a hole in the wall in charlotte (riedy’s) that’s a very short walk from my house and i occasionally bartend there.

Sonny Rees, a Larry Miller Drinking Club Member made a strange face after tasting his drink and snarkily asked the waitress ”Nominum Quid Geminus?” [which is Latin for, “You call that a double?]. “I’m here on my 2nd birthday and you give me this watered-down excuse of a drink?”

[If this gets to forwarded to Larry, Come back soon Larry, we miss you.]

If that’s the drink they gave the kid, then that’s the most generous pour in the history of Britain. They dole out whiskey by the thimbleful over there.
