In violent urban survival scenario… violence is the easy part.

When times are hard, people show all kinds of their characteristics, or faces, or real face, call it whatever you like.

That is another reason why it is not so popular to talk or write in details about that time. Some people did bad things and survived, or good things and died, or people just acted strange in that time.

Again a lot of combinations. People later do not want to discuss about that, they do not want to remember that. Over the time man can really force himself to believe that he did not do some things, even if he did them.

To the extent that liberals think, they side with the zombie horde.

Then, when they try to implement this flawed thought process, they will die just like the zombie hoard.

I'm glad you brought up sound. I've noticed a new (and fairly odd) behavior I seem to have acquired and I was curious to know if anyone else has experienced it.

What used to be rather ordinary and benign noises are bringing me to a moment of stark attention.

Odessa is on a particular flight path for the military. There is also the CAF nearby and a civilian airport, etc.

Until recently, the occasional rumblings and sounds of aircraft overhead hardly drew my attention.

But now, especially at home when it is quite otherwise, I get a sensation that could best be described as “fight or flight”, like an ultra awareness. For the moments it takes the aircraft noise to fade, I'm telling myself how stupid I am for being so paranoid.

But it happens every time nonetheless. Weird. Is it too much coffee?

It’s probably your spidey feelings that something is coming so your senses are heightened. More military aircraft and changes in their flight schedules have alterted you that it’s not the norm.

As for soiling his pants. Big deal. Clean is up and get on with business. A momentary laspe shouldn’t throw the entire plan out the window.

“What used to be rather ordinary and benign noises are bringing me to a moment of stark attention.”

Do you think the sounds have gotten louder than they used to be?

Three possibilities:
1. Age - how old are you? Seniors tend to go two ways with sound - they lose hearing or their hearing is super sensitive and sounds become louder than they are, causing them to jump at loud sounds.
2. Fibromyalgia - excess electricity originates in the brain and nerves go nuts with excess power causing pain everywhere and nerves involved in hearing become super sensitive and the person jumps at sounds that wouldn't bother people without fibromyalgia.
3. You are so involved in thinking of disaster that may be coming, you have become super sensitive to sound, as in “Is this the big one?”.

Have a talk with your brain, assuring your brain that loud sound will not hurt you - that it is normal for you to hear that. Tell yourself you get a treat when the next loud sounds come - like a special drink or cake or something you would like and you can't have it until the loud sounds happen.

Thanks for your reply. The noise is no louder than before, but they seem more - ominous. I don’t actually jump or feel pain, so that leaves out 2, but 1 and 3 sound reasonable. I am over 55, and I have become more aware of what I’ve may be “prepping” for.

Perhaps a big bowl of homemade mac and cheese. . .

“...but they seem more - ominous.”

Okay, that seems to be you have become “frightened” about a coming disaster that could happen at any minute. How logical is that? Not very - it is an outside possibility something would happen suddenly.

Let’s suppose it did happen suddenly. You have preps so you can handle creating your own personal world when the rest of the world collapses. Instead of becoming “up tight” about a disaster, consider your preps - what could you do in the way of preps to make you feel better about being prepared for the collapse of your outside world?

I have prepped to create my own world regardless of what happens to the world as a whole, this country, my state, my county, my town. Try to take that attitude and work on your preps so you don’t care if the outside world collapses as you created your own world - to hell with the rest of the world, you will be fine. Repeat those phrases often.

Please email me a bowl of homemade mac and cheese the next time the sounds come.

I know it's not logical, and I can't say it is frightening, just ominous. The aircraft are real - I live close to an air museum with active WWII planes as well as being in a flight path for military aircraft. This is just a new reaction to them.

And it will happen again, so this is for you!

Thanks for posting. Lots to seriously consider there for people who haven't considered it. If the SHTF, things will be anything BUT normal, and an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Failing that preps are good, skills are vital, but the ability to adapt, improvise, and endure are paramount.
