The strange, strange story of the gay fascists

Follow me on Twitter: @BryanJFischer, on Facebook at "Focal Point"

In her interview with me last week on CNN about the Southern Poverty Law Center, Carol Costello brought up the connection between homosexuality and Nazi Germany. I find it in instructive in the extreme that as soon as Ms. Costello started talking about the SPLC, she was reminded of Adolf Hitler. I'll let her explain that to her vanishing viewing audience on CNN, The Collapsing News Network.

What's fascinating about all this is a piece that was posted on October 21, 2008, in the Huffington Post, of all places, making exactly the same assertion about homosexuality and the Nazis that I did.

In other words, if you've got a problem with the gay-Nazi nexus, your problem is with the Huffington Post, not me.

The title of the piece is the title I have borrowed for this column: The Strange, Strange Story of the Gay Fascists. (You might want to click on the link right now before the Huffington Post scrubs it. Note to HuffPo: don't bother. I've got the screenshot.)

The piece is written by Johann Hari, a self-admitted homosexual who describes himself as "a gay left-wing man."

Remarkably, Hari says the connection between homosexuality and fascism is attested beyond any shadow of doubt. Says Hari, "The twisted truth is that gay men have been at the heart of every major fascist movement that ever was — including the gay-gassing, homo-cidal Third Reich." Read that quote again if you dare.

So, Ms. Costello and other Big Gay bullies, put that in your pipe and smoke it. Here is a homosexual who says in the third paragraph of his 3,480 word article that "gay men" were "at the heart...of the...Third Reich." Hey, don't blame me, I'm just quoting here.

This is not news, nor is it strange.

I should add that Hitler’s alleged homosexuality has never been substantiated. But he was a pervert and I believe a fecalphiliac.

He had a disappointing relationship with a girl name Geli Raubal when he was in his twenties. Geli was Hitler's half-niece. There is some evidence that he was sincerely in love with her.

She ended up dead, supposedly a suicide.

Godwins “law” is a meaningless silliness, that is often the last refuge of a smart-ass. Why is it weird that one of the worst insanities within living memory might sometimes be referenced when people discuss politics or pphilosophy? I could easily make my own “law”, whereby any discussion about the roots of nazism, or even the most scholarly legitimate comparisons will soon invoke a shriek “Godwins Law”.

This law is not an axiom of logic, it is just someones crotchety attempt to prevent anything, from ever, for any reason being contrasted with the nazis. (one of the most nightmarish developments of the last century) These comparisons are very often quite legitimate.

I often think if i suggested we follow nordic pagan religion, blame the Jews for everything and ship them by trains to special camps, and someone compared me to a nazi, that someone could be counted on to shriek that Godwins Law was invoked.

When somebody starts out comparing those he disagrees with or disapproves of to Hitler or the Nazis, discussion isn't likely to improve. Nor is it likely to be a very "scholarly" or "legitimate" comparison. It's more likely to be an ideological hit and run, like Bryan's.

It's a generational thing, for heaven's sake. Very few people nowadays -- whatever their politics or ideology or nationality or sexual orientation -- are going to advocate abolishing the rule of law, invading neighboring countries, or gassing ethnic minorities.

70 years ago a lot of people went along with such ideas, and even enthusiastically supported them. What you or I or our friends and neighbors or anyone else would have done if we'd been alive then isn't so easy to determine.

It's not "me and my ideological tribe against Hitler and the other guys for him." It's more "pretty much our whole generation against Hitler because we know from history where that stuff can lead."

You seem to think that Hitler and his movement are some kind of isolated incident peculiar to a particular moment in history. There is nothing new under the sun. This was true 70 years ago, 700 years ago, 7000 years ago. Hitler was Evil. Nothing more, nothing less. Moreover he was Evil long before he ever rounded up on person or fired up one oven. To say that the modern epitome of Evil is somehow isolated from modern day men and that the cowardice that allowed him to come to power is vanished from the human psyche thanks to the horrific example provided by Hitler is to demonstrate an absolute ignorance of History and Human Nature.

I'm not saying evil somehow disappeared from human nature, just that through experience we've learned how to recognize certain forms of evil and to condemn them.

It's pretty much a given that people nowadays condemn past evils. Very few people now would give their assent to brownshirts in the streets or gas chambers for minorities.

When evil surfaces again, most likely it will be in a different form, an new package, that may be hard for people to recognize.

There's something very self-congratulatory about people who identify their present-day political opponents with Hitler. Who can say that when political evil surfaces in a new guise they'd be any more likely to recognize it than other people?

I'd agree, generally, but this “clown” in the white house and his core people are the real deal as far as the furies that drove National Socialism. Obama has an actual and avowed killer in his circle. More than one of the rest are as scary as anyone Hitler had around him. You may remember that THEY (leftists in general)are in fact the ones who constantly threw around the NAZI tag as a tactic to shut up their American political opponents 50 years ago.

Some Americans may refuse to give their assent to the violence that bubbles in Obama’s heart if it is ever visited upon them but there is a damn good chance, in my view, that they will get the chance to stand against it. I actually think he is the real deal. Words mean a lot to Conservatives they tend to use them literally, unlike leftist who use them tactically.

This is the most absurd statement I have read all day. The rule of law has been around off and on for thousands of years. Genocide has occured since the Third Reich. No significant genetic changes have evolved in humans lately. Expect nasty things to happen again and even in America.

You really should stop, as your ignorance is showing more and more.

You obviously missed the Obama Brownshirts shown on utube in 2009, or the Brownshirts in England introduced only a few weeks back by the English government as they asked for young volunteers .

So American homosexuals are going to start stuffing people into gas chambers. Seriously how likely is that?

My point wasn't that it could never happen again. It was that this idea that one's current political opponents would have been Nazis or would still support Nazi policies, and oneself and one's allies wouldn't is more emotional and polemical than serious or thoughtful. Most of the time it's a stupid "Yay us! Boo them!" comment -- whoever makes it. It's hard to find people here today who want to plunder other countries and enslave their inhabitants.

Most Americans living today have learned that lesson -- whatever happens in Bosnia or Rwanda. Maybe it will be forgotten and we will have to learn it again the hard way, but seriously, if you start out accusing your opponents of being Nazis (in some way) you lose credibility right off.
