Just downloaded a free program called Dns Jumper,it works! Live out in the boonies,Internet was always slow for me,tried everything out there,this one works. I got high speed internet;) Dns Jumper 1.0.4

Downloaded it,unzipped it,opened it,hit fastest Dns button,applied settings,hit Flush Dns button and I'm flying;,only took about 10 years to find something that works;)

See if it created a file called “hosts.” (no extension) in yor system directory.

If so, it enables DNS, looks for the site you are interested in, adds it to your hosts file, then disables it. Thus URLs are resolved to their numeric IP addresses on your local computer without going out to the internet to do that.

That is my guess, anyway.

For those of us who are as literate in computers as Obama is in the constitution, what does this mean? My pop lives way out in the boonies and his internet crawls, and he was just complaining about it today. It won’t mess up his internet will it?

From what I’ve read, it just polls a number of DNS servers (at initial startup), and applies the one that replies fastest at that time.

It could cause problems -- just keep it in mind if you can't get to certain sites after awhile (they may have changed addresses)...

Didn’t mess up mine,just switches DNS Servers to the fastest in your area,I’m have Windows 7 and Virgin Mobile.

Here is a link to a review that explains how it works. I would follow their advice and go to the OpenDNS link in the review and learn how to back it up and change it manually first, just in case.

Try it,I don’t have a router,don’t know how it would work with one,doesn’t work,uninstall it.
All I know is it worked for me.
