Why does a school bus full of innocent children skid off the road and tumble down a ravine, land on a building full of starving orphans, bursts into flames with debris shattering the pet shop window with all the cute little kittens on display?

As a Mormon, I can tell you that the LDS view about this country's future does not bode well, considering what the Book of Mormon has to say on the subject.

Ether 2:9-12

9 And now, we can behold the decrees of God concerning this land, that it is a land of promise; and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in iniquity.

10 For behold, this is a land which is choice above all other lands; wherefore he that doth possess it shall serve God or shall be swept off; for it is the everlasting decree of God. And it is not until the fulness of iniquity among the children of the land, that they are swept off.

11 And this cometh unto you, O ye Gentiles, that ye may know the decrees of God—that ye may repent, and not continue in your iniquities until the fulness come, that ye may not bring down the fulness of the wrath of God upon you as the inhabitants of the land have hitherto done.

12 Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written.

Personally, I think we're pretty far gone.

Where is the Mormon Jesus? Probably keeping his polygamous wives in line (I’m not kidding, I can give you quotes by LDS leadership).

Seriously, the false Jesus of Mormonism can’t do a thing. Even the Mormon god is not omnipotent, omnipresent or omniscient (and I can give you quotes by LDS leaders and LDS scripture for that too).

Ping to Nana for the Romney/Monson graphic. And Ping to the others who may have ideas.

I think that maybe we haven’t suffered enough to learn the lesson God wants us to learn.

A couple of weeks ago you would have been flamed into oblivion for suggesting that Romeny had a fault, especially with his religion. LOL How times have changed!

Why did death take the rich man’s son
And the poor man’s cow?

Carl Sandburg

God allows the sun to shine on the good and the evil so it stands to reason he also lets bad things happen to good people and bad people. Or maybe there is no God and we lost for no deeper reason than cause and effect.

The one true God doesn’t much care what Mormons or Muslims believe or how deep their faith is....it is misdirected and of no avail. To measure someone else’s faith by their intensity is at best a delusional way to understand God or the act of faith itself. Sometimes the most faithful person looks like the widow giving her last two mites

You remind me of Golum in the Lord of the Rings as he falls into the volcano clutching the precious with that smile of victory even as his body is half submerged in lava. I don’t have anything to say one way or the other about Mormonism or Christianity for that matter. But I am not a big fan of the neener-neener game being played inside a burning building.

Romney got more evangelical votes than McCain. Depending on the number of his votes still uncounted, Romney may end up with nearly as many evangelical votes as Bush in 2004.

It shows that a presidential candidate can run almost exclusively on fiscal conservatism and still get the evangelical vote.

All governments of man are corrupt. The Kingdom of God, with Christ as its Governor is the only one that isn’t; and His Kingdom is coming, and the Government shall be upon His shoulders!
