We’re tending towards providing laptops with docking stations in the office for staff. Best of both worlds…

Thanks.

from what I have read before, AMD has become Intels biggest competitor as of late.

They have come a loing way since the days when they were just a poor stepsister.

I do a lot of writing, including a newspaper column (locally),

What paper, inquiring minds want to know.

^^ and a 24’ monitor ^^

Wow, I had no idea they were available that big. I guess there are some folks with eyes weaker than mine.

Hedra, it’s just a small-town shopper type newspaper, no big deal. It’s not a political column, just folksy, homespun subjects. Thanks for asking.

I do a lot of writing, including a newspaper column (locally), plus all of my photoshop work, and I’m more comfortable in my office, alone, with a 1 TB hard drive, good keyboard/mouse, and a 24’ monitor.

Is your office a movie theater?

For me, this is scary. I trade stocks and options for my income in retirement. I have a tower with 4 monitors right now. I just can’t do what I do on a laptop or tablet. If I were trapped at a hospital and had to trade one option or a single stock, maybe I could get it done in an orderly manor, but to try and watch 7-10 stocks with options streaming and streaming charts to match, it just can’t be done on one screen. I guess I can collect trash from the dumpster to keep my system running, but I don’t want to. I do have many used parts in my system right now, but that was just to save money from buying new parts. If I can’t even get them, I will be stuck in the ‘80’s forever.

Who cares! I will never knowingly buy another Intel product. Their corporate values do not jibe with mine so they will not receive any support from me. After all isn’t that how the demoncrats play the game?

The problem with displays of any (large) size is that getting beyond 1920x1080 is still very expensive. I can’t wait for the TV people to start going to 2560x1440 or beyond.

They make USB video cards. Just plug them in and hook an HDMI monitor to them.

I use a 42” VISIO HDMI screen for my monitor...they are cheap and it’s got a lot of space on it.

I’ve found it’s best not to assume anything. We sometimes use a projector attached to a computer in meetings, and our “monitor” becomes 7’ or thereabouts.
