Study: Women Spend More Time Ogling Women
UPI ^ | Dec. 1, 2012

British researchers say women are more likely than men to give women's bodies a visual once-over.

Researchers at Bristol University came to their conclusions after asking volunteers to examine a range of different images, including pictures of couples in films, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

They found women spent 61 percent of their time looking at the women in the pictures, and only 39 percent on the men, while men seemed to spend just over half -- 53 percent -- of their time looking at the women.

"This is counter-intuitive from a sexual perspective if you are thinking about desire, but it's not surprising if you look at it in terms of sexual competition," said Felix Mercer Mos, a computer science doctoral student who led the study. "The women might be checking out their sexual rivals and comparing themselves with them."

He noted: "That's speculation of course -- I've no proof whatsoever."

The study also found that while men concentrated on the faces of the women, women's eyes tended to roam around the whole figure.

Kate Figes, author of books on relationships, said she wasn't surprised by the study's findings.

"We are always sizing ourselves up against the competition," she said. "It's because we feel threatened. It's quite a basic animal state. I'm sure if the gender states were reversed, men would do exactly the same."

it is called: “researching the competition.”

Exactly. Everyone looks, it's just that women have a different reason for looking than men do.

Four-plus decades of rabid feminism have trained men to break from their natures and “don’t look, whatever you do!”
Conversely women are unafraid of the PC police.

there’s no way in hell I want any woman near “The Button” that launches nukes.

That might actually work out for America. Below is a socialist voter map. It coincides nicely with a nuclear target map. Could the Democrat party survive one Iranian nuke?

Women Spend More Time Ogling Women

Several gals (and no men) have told me this over the years.

I know I have no trouble seeing the "I'm Up Here^" and "I Wish These Were Brains" tee shirts, but I don't seem to be able to catch the gals doin' it.

The gals also claim they dress to impress other women, and not to attract men, that's why you're not supposed to look if you're male.

If all this is true, why don't they seek out the blind guys to marry, then they won't have to fret about all these rules.

“I have two pairs of boots that I wear 300+ days a year - one pair for summer, the other for winter.”

HAH! I got ONE PAIR of work boots for summer and winter. Wear them for all occasions. For the more upscale occasions I tie them.

Women look at women for the same reason they look at fashion magazines.

They are checking out the latest styles, the way an outfit is put together, etc.

That's as it has always been. Nothing nefarious.

“Lesbians”

Not at all.

The authors theory: (The women might be checking out their sexual rivals and comparing themselves with them.” ) is right on. Very well describes a lot of woman. I’m surprised this is news actually.
Woman are constantly comparing themselves to other woman in many ways. Another way is thinking the other woman are better mothers than they are.

And I am kind of surpised at how many responses my comment has drawn. It was entirely made as a tonque-in-cheek comment.

Supposedly more women than men watch the Miss America pageant. And when the TV show Charlie’s Angels was on the air, more females than males viewed it.

I will often check out other women’s clothes, especially if they are a similar height and weight as me. I figure if they look good in a certain type of outfit, then maybe I could wear something like it.

I think it’s a way women absorb information and social cues.
